In her etchings and monotypes Shari examines water from its microscopic life to the global scale of imagined navigational mapping. She explores the sublime, calming and reflective qualities that water has in our lives.

Art of Italy
at The Lodge

June 17- September 7
 

Artists, Ros Harper, BZ Meyers, Maryanne Mock and Kathy Rice from the Frank Bette Center traveled to Terri, Italy in 2017 and to Posara, Italy in 2018 to study watercolor painting. The show at the The Lodge includes photographs and paintings of some of the medieval towns and sights they visited while in Umbrian and Tuscany regions of sunny Italy.

Bountiful Fruits of Summer

Prolific oil painter and world traveler, Marvin Dalander will be showing his work at our Eyewise Satellite Gallery beginning June 10, 2019.  Marvin has been oil painting since 1952 and he's still at it!  This show highlights the bountiful fruits of summer, depicting sun drenched streets and marketplaces and the lush yield of a summer harvest.

40 talented artists will be painting around Alameda all week.
See if you can spot them! Pick up the rules and a game card
and when you do, note their number, date and location.
You may win the Where's PAPO? bingo contest!

Our Quick Draw on August 1 this year will be on the west end of Alameda. The artists paint from 1:30-4:00 pm, a great time to see them in action!
Then from 5:00 - 7:30 pm there will be an Quick Draw Exhibit and Sale at
Rock Wall Wine Company 2301 Monarch Street, Suite 300, Alameda, CA

AUGUST 3 • 10 AM - 6 PM
This year along with the Sale and Exhibit it of Plein Air Paintings by 40 talented artists, we will also have an Art Festival at South Shore Center.

Alameda Residents may invite artists to paint a picture of their homes, boats, gardens or favorite view. There is no obligation to purchase artworks just as there are no guarantees that an artist will choose a suggested venue. Our artists typically charge between $400 and $1500 for their paintings.

Luminous Flowers - Watercolor Secrets

This workshop will be a demonstration of how to work with limited pallets, how to choose the best materials, the four paper techniques, three brush uses, and how to mix exclusively on the paper for more luminosity.

Fountain Pen Fun and Watercolor

Instructor: Emily Weil
Learn to use ink pens with flexible nibs in your drawings and draw with different line weights. After doing the drawing in indelible ink, I will show you how to add watercolor to your artwork. Together we will learn how to stay loose, unstructured and free.
