Dear Parents,

Somerset is certainly living up to its name, as we enter a second extremely sunny week of the holidays! It is hard to believe that we have reached the end of another academic year.

Downside is thriving and I would like to thank you all for your input and support over the course of the year, such a vital factor in the growth and development of your sons and daughters. We are sad to say farewell to departing pupils (and parents!) but you will always be welcome here and we would love to remain in contact in the years ahead. September will be upon us before we know it and we are excited that we will be joined by a number of new staff. You can click here to read more about them. In the meantime have a wonderful summer!

LEAVERS' BALL

Hollywood – and the summer sun – came to Downside School on the evening of 28th June as our Upper Sixth enjoyed an evening of celebration with family, friends and staff at the Leaver’s Ball. The sense of the community spirit that is so distinct at Downside was evident as fellow pupils greeted each other so warmly to mark the end of their school years together. Read more.

E-SAFETY
With the Summer upon us, our pupils will have the opportunity to take part in all their favourite pastimes. For many of them, this includes gaming online, and one of the best ways that parents can help to keep their children safe online is to actively engage with what their children are doing. Simple activities such as asking them to tell you about the game or what they do or even spending some time watching them play can not only help you understand what is going on but allow your child time and space to talk with you if they find some of the content online disturbing.

Yours ever,
