What have we been up to this week?

Hey there! It's time for the 69th ScourgeBringer open development newsletter issue!

Previously on ScourgeBringer: we worked on revamping the weapons and adding the super attack to the game.

Last week, we finished working on the super attack and the preparation to release the Alpha 2! Which means that...

ScourgeBringer Alpha 2 is now available to all testers!

We will also unlock a new batch of alpha access on our Discord right after this newsletter arrives to you.

We posted the full change log on Steam:

For this update, we focused our effort on a revamp of the weapon system (to make it smoother), as well as adding the super attack. Weapons are still heavily worked on, but you should get a better feeling out of them. We're still tweaking things here and there, but we'll get there! We also revamped some items which were no more relevant to the new system. You can also display a full map of the level now.

And of course we tried to address as many feedback as possible! There are still some of them are pending, but worry not, we'll get to them at some point.

With Alpha 2 out, our current focus is on working more on the map system, and adding the temporary upgrades one! Which should pretty much be the future Alpha 3 content.

See you next week for more progress on the feedback and next features!

Cheers,
Thomas

How is our budget doing?

Every week, we update our production budget based on our initial budget and our ongoing revenues.

ScourgeBringer budget is counted in "months of subsistence" instead of money. We believe that it is a more understandable way to explain how budgets are constructed and consumed.

Our remaining budget is: 9.68 months (42.08 weeks)*

  • So far, we consumed -16.10 months (-70 weeks) from working of this project;
  • And we consumed -1.22 months (-5.30 weeks) from investing (e.g. buying hardware, paying for services...);
  • We also earned back +15.00 months (+65.21 weeks) from our ongoing revenues (e.g. NeuroVoider & Boo! Greedy Kid sales, contract work...).

Our initial budget for ScourgeBringer was 12 months when we started.

For a more detailed breakdown of our budget construction, you can refer to the first issue of this newsletter.
*1 week = 0.23 month (based on a 365-day year and a 7-day week)
