Order, order!
This newsletter is all about order books opening, primarily the Mk 5 coaches (TPE and Caledonian Sleeper); Sonic Models GWR/BR 56xx steam loco and VEA vans.  As well as order books opening we'd also like to give people advanced warning that orders for our N gauge HOA aggregates hoppers will close just after TINGS on 16/09/2019.

Not forgetting our 4mm/OO friends we also announced a new OO/4mm wagon - IPA car carriers - at DEMU's Showcase exhibition in June! We'll include further details in a future newsletter when we open the order book.

Mark 5 / 5a coaches in N gauge

We've finalised the specification and negotiations with the factory which means that we've been able to open the order book on the Mk 5 coaches - both the Caledonian Sleeper and TPE coaches.  The real things run in fixed formations so we've taken the view that replicating that is the best way to sell the Mk 5s.  For the TPE Mk 5a sets they are a fixed rake of 5 coaches - we are offering two different set numbers.  For the sleepers we are following the splits of the real thing (though this changes seasonally) and we've split the Highlander and Lowlander sets into their Scottish destinations.

The specification is tailored to each vehicle ie directional lighting will only be in the correct coaches.  We've kept the price as competitive as we can for such a mammoth project.  For this reason we don't anticipate that it will be possible for us to sell the Mk 5s through retailers as adding a retail margin would make them too expensive. Production is scheduled for Q1-Q2 2020.

GWR/BR 56xx steam locomotive

The GWR built 200 0-6-2 56xx tank engines in the mid-1920s. Originally designed for heavy coal traffic in the Welsh valleys, the locomotives were soon being used on passenger trains and spread to most of the GWR’s midland region and the BR(W) region following nationalisation.

The model is being produced in conjunction with Sonic Models, and will feature high levels of detailing and a smooth reliable running. The models will feature: will feature coreless motors, NEM 6 pin decoder socket, NEM couplers, original or later style driving wheel balance weights, Swindon or Armstrong (NE) safety valves, detailed cab interior and accessory detail pack.
From L to R:
Row 1: 5637 lined BR green with late crest (as preserved); 6681 lined BR green with small crest;
Row 2: 5633 unlined BR green with BR late crest; 6639 BR black with early emblem;
Row 3: 5616 "GWR" Green; 6623 "Great Western" green
The tooling is complete and we received the first EP recently.  We're evaluating the EP and then the next step will be livery samples.  We expect to start production in Q4 2019 with delivery in late Q4 2019 - Q1 2020.  All models are £81.50 direct from our website (we expect the MSRP to be £99.95) except for 5637 which is £89.50 so that we can make a donation to the 5637 Steam Loco Group.

VEA vans from Sonic Models

The VEA production is complete and they are about to hit the high seas and should be with us in the UK mid-late August.  All three liveries come in different versions with different numbers and slightly different markings on some versions - each version is limited to 200 of each number.  Some of our retailers are accepting pre-orders now (listed under information on our website) and the majority will be sold through retailers, however we have some available for order direct from us on our website (MSRP £19.95).

Last but not least...

The 4mm/OO EALNOS MMA/JNA wagons have just finished production and should be leaving the factory shortly. We'll be in touch soon to start collecting any balance payments due.

2mm/N HOA hoppers - the order book for the HOA hoppers will close on 16 September 2019 so please don't delay in getting your order in!

We still have N gauge 40ft hicube containers in 2 new liveries ONE and Hapag Lloyd available from our website.
Ordering tip: please only place one type of model per order as it helps us and more importantly you to keep track of open vs fulfilled orders ie different liveries or numbers are fine but not say a loco and a wagon.  If you place an order with multiple different projects on then we can't mark the order as "complete" until the final project has been delivered. Separate orders will not cost you any more in P&P.
You can find details of all our projects on our project overview on our website. We spend a lot of time updating this so that you have the latest information please do not email us asking for an estimate as it takes a surprising amount of our time to answer each email individually!
Our next exhibition will be at The International N Gauge Show (TINGS) in Leamington Spa on 14/15 September 2019.

As ever if the project you're interested in isn't featured in this newsletter then please have a look at our website.

Best wishes

Mike & Ben
