Nursery visit from Harrisonburg High School

While most student are off for summer break enjoying the time off, we were pleasantly surprised when we were asked if a few students could come and visit the nursery! Led by the On the Road Collaborative, these students wanted to learn more about the native flora and the types of species that depend on it.

It was perfect timing given all that was currently in bloom! Leah and Jessi were able to guide them through the nursery and point out the variety of native, herbal, and medicinal plants. this gave the students the ability to view the types of plants that would be valuable to incorporate within a meadow.
Harrisonburg High School has asked us to help them with the process of designing and installing a native meadow. By sharing our knowledge and experience we are able to guide the students in this process and equipped them with the knowledge needed in order to build and maintain from this undertaking. The project has been evolving and should be back to full speed once school is back in session.
Farmers Market & Friendly City Food CO-OP

We currently have an abundance of plants at the Harrisonburg Friendly City Food CO-OP and will be returning the Harrisonburg Farmers Market at the end of the summer. We have everything you'd need to get the garden looking wonderful and complete by next spring including native perennials, trees, and shrubs. Don't see what you're looking for? Just send us a quick email and let us know if there is something specific you may be looking for or you're interested in getting a garden built!
Garden Nook

After a few years and a few variations of this garden nook, we found a wonderful way to invite pollinator and completely rid the client of the chore of mowing a lawn. This lovely stonework is a piece of art but also creates an inviting activity space bringing people closer to nature.
Meet Our Team
Elise Lintelman

Elise started working at The Natural Garden in 2011 as an intern, after graduating from JMU with a degree in art history and studio art. She came with a passion for plants and gardening but with a desire to learn drafting and design. After several years in the field, she helped to start The Natural Garden’s native plant nursery. She continues to study drafting and design techniques and now leads design projects with Karl. Elise loves to draw, paint with watercolors, and is working toward a certification in botanical illustration. She spent her childhood in Virginia getting her hands dirty in gardens and in nature and feels lucky to be able to reimagine healthy gardens and landscapes for people who love the natural world.
