Falling For the Arts: Harvest Your Inner Artist
Fine Arts Council October 19, 2019 Mini Sessions
REGISTRATION OPEN!

Come and Harvest your Inner Artist by learning from Educators like you! From the Science of Dance (Edmonton) to the Power of Photography (Calgary), come and learn with the Fine Arts Council. If you liked working with Rick Wolcott at our Fantasyland Arts Army Conference, come and learn some sketching ideas from him in Calgary. Also joining the Calgary mix will be David Snider from Rosebud School of the Arts.

Edmonton:
Come and Fall for the Arts in Edmonton this year with the Fine Arts Council of the ATA. We will be hosting sessions like: Metis Jigging, Creativity Meets Mental Health, Creating Inter Curricular Art Projects, as well as sessions put forth by the University of Alberta's Arts and Education Faculty. Lunch, coffee, and snacks included with your registration; we look forward to seeing you there!

The following events may be of interest to Alberta fine arts teachers, but are not organized by the Fine Arts Council of the Alberta Teachers' Association.

Central United Church Seeks New Music Director

Calgary, AB – Central United Church is seeking a music director for a temporary position from mid-August 2019 until late May, 2020. This is a part-time position (14-20 hours per week as seasonally required) and is assisted by an organist/accompanist. The successful candidate will demonstrate leadership and a collaborative approach. Responsibilities include working with the minister and the worship team to plan the musical elements supporting weekly Sunday morning worship services and seasonal celebrations (i.e.  Christmas, Easter). The successful candidate will encourage broad congregational participation within the music ministry and coordinate and support the participation of other musicians and vocalists within the annual music budget. The successful candidate will be part of creating an energizing and spiritually uplifting music program. Please contact Central United at crobarts@centralchurch.ca.

Puppet Power Request for Proposals

Puppet Power is inviting artists to submit proposals for their Puppet Power Conference: 
  • 90 minute Talk/Demo about your puppetry arts practice and how it relates to one of this year's conference themes; 
  • Three hour Hands-On workshop on a facet of puppetry i.e. manipulation, shadow puppets, digital integration etc.;
  • They are also interested in puppetry-based performances that relate to the conference themes; these need to have minimal tech and personnel requirements. 
This call is open to local, national, and international proposals. WP Puppet Theatre will pay for travel costs to Calgary, Accommodation, Per Diem, Presenter Fee and Conference Registration. 
 
Puppet Power appreciates the heart and soul it takes to complete the application. To ensure your proposal receives the careful consideration it deserves, please clearly outline how your work directly fits into their theme.
