All the dinner ideas and deals for this weeks Seasonal fare.
Spinach is the hot ticket this week. I have had this Baked Eggs and Spinach for breakfast a couple of times in the past week and it is a great way to start the day and get in some good dark greens early.
Seasonal Tip: NZ Satsuma Mandarins will finish in the next few weeks so make sure you get plenty while they are around.
Chicken Breast
Boneless Chicken Breast is on the Blackboard for the rest of the week. I'm using the school holidays to try and eat a little better and will be doing these 5 Chicken Breast recipes for lunches all week.
Orange Kumara
Beauregard/Orange Kumara is pretty abundant this week and it dovetails perfectly into some Chicken Breast dinners that are super healthy and delicious. Check out these 17 "non-boring" recipes for some inspiration.
NZ Oranges
New Zealand Oranges have been growing all year and now they are ready to eat. This Whole Orange Cake is a family favourite. Obviously I won't be eating it while I am overdosing on Chicken Breast and Kumara but I'm sure someone at my house will give it a good home.
Ribs
Ribs are also on the Blackboard this week. They make great school holiday eating and are easy enough for the kids to cook them without much supervision. My method is to marinate (or buy ones we have already marinated), cover with foil and put into preheated oven at 160 degrees for 2-3 hours depending on how thick the ribs are. Remove the foil for the last 10-15 mins to brown them up a bit.
Friday Drinks
Guinness is still the order of the week. My tip is to stay home on Saturday night by the fire. Enjoy.
