There is an opportunity for current and new players in the fertility industry to create supportive and inclusive environments for fat women who are looking to access fertility treatments, and who, in general, are trying to get pregnant.
European Plus-Size apparel retailer Navabi just completed a “Media for Equity” deal in the “double-digit million” amount which will allow it to leverage significant media presence in order to build brand awareness in Germany. SevenVentures, the investment arm of the media conglomerate ProSiebenSat, led the investment, which illustrates a growing commitment in Europe to support Plus-Size fashion. The purchase of CDM Fitness mentioned below, illustrates that investors are seeing the importance of investing in fitness brands that are speaking differently to customers. The Managing Director of the Private Equity firm that purchased CDM (the largest Planet Fitness franchisee in Massachusetts) was quoted as saying “We are big believers in Planet Fitness’ disruptive and inclusive business model.” This bodes well for other exercise and fitness companies to understand that inclusivity can be a key business driver. Deals such as this will slowly but surely change the way companies think about positioning their brands to customers.
