3.ROCK OYSTER Saturday 13th July 2019 (Rock Oyster South) and Sunday 14th July 2019 (Rock Oyster North) Plus Free Saturday night event

  1. Tintookies Orienteers invite you to a weekend of orienteering on this unique landscape. In the north east is the Ridley Conservation park which contains remnant stands of woodland and grassland vegetation. Much of the map area was originally part of an ancient sea bed hence you will see fossilised oyster shells. Some of the private land has been cleared for occasional cropping. Complex but clearly defined spur gully terrain dominates the balance of the map.
  2. Day events - A choice of 7 courses. Beginners welcome but please note that due to the nature of the terrain no Very Easy course will be offered. Night event – choice of 2 courses
  3. Free camping available on the Saturday night. Campfire available (other than in the very unlikely event of torrential rain)
  4. Catering provided by the Junior Arrows on both days. Baked potatoes on Saturday from approximately 5pm with a choice of toppings (vegetarian option), Toasted sandwiches on Sunday. Baked goods available both days.
  5. Twin portaloo available both days
  6. Directions, From Mt Pleasant following the Angas Valley Road towards Walkers Flat.  Turn left on Murraylands Road and follow signs. After crossing the Marne River the turn to the arena is about 500 metres on the left. Allow approximately 1 hour 45 minutes travelling time from Adelaide CBD.
  7. Please note that the last reliable fuel stops are at Birdwood or alternatively the 24 hour On the Run at Mannum. There is no fuel at Cambrai, Black Hill or Walker Flat.
  8. Entries close Wednesday 10th July 2019. Pre entry ensures a discount and a map of your choice. Night event is Enter on the night only. Please bring a head torch for the night-O.

Also, did you miss the Sunday Mail article on Bridget and Simon? Well, don't fret, because you can read all about them in the June OSA Newsletter here, together with articles on SA orienteers selected to represent Australia in this year's World and Junior World Orienteering Championships. Hard work by orienteers and their coaches, and successes in national competitions, meant five were selected from SA. This is a great achievement.
