Dear fellow EU citizen,
the3million is 3 today, and I want to thank you for your support over the last 1095 days. We could not have done it without you.
On this day, can I ask you a favour?
the3million was created as a grassroots organisation of EU citizens living in the UK to fight for their rights, and we are still are.
Please consider becoming a paying supporter to the3million to enable us to continue the work. You can either set up a direct debit or do a card payment (one-off or recurring)
We don't have someone like Aaron Banks bankrolling the3million (not that we would want to as we value our independence too much), but we also need to pay those who are spending all their time on the campaign, as everyone has rents, mortgages or bills to pay.
Campaigning is intense, as we found out over the last three years, and people are committed, but we also lost some valuable members of the team in that time as we couldn't fund their work. I worry the current team won't be able to finish the job unless the3million has a more sustainable model, and this is why I am asking you to join our 589 current paying supporters today if you haven't done so yet.
Each newsletter is read by approximately 50,000 people, and the 3million would be a lot more sustainable if only 10% of these readers would be willing to chip in £5 every month.
Join these wonderful 589 supporters today and help the3million continue to be a strong voice for EU citizens now and after Brexit. Monthly donations start at £2.50 per month and every little help.
Since it's our anniversary, let's go back in time to look at our achievements. Instead of long sentences, I invite you to watch this short slide show:
Our future is still uncertain, and sadly, I have no doubt the 3 million-odd EU citizens in the UK will need the3million to be as active as it is now over the next three years and beyond. We are currently working on planning our future strategy, and these four activity streams will take us to 2022 and beyond:
- To monitor the implementation of Settled Status scheme;
- To fight discriminations against EU citizens in the UK after Brexit;
- To provide a loud and clear voice for EU citizens in Westminster, in Brussels and in the media;
- To promote the integration of EU citizens into British society.
the3million is by far the best organisation to carry out these tasks, with our current standing with the UK Government and EU institutions, British and European politicians, the media, and all the other NGOs involved in the word of civil rights, democracy, and migration.
Obviously, I am biased, but let me tell you how amazing the people I am working with are. Like you, they are regular folks who felt betrayed by the UK and the EU following the results of the referendum. They come from all parts of the EU, and all walks of life, but they have one thing in common: they have decided to become activist over the last three years to give all of us a better future and I don't think anybody else is better placed to be the voice of EU citizens in the UK.
Last Saturday, I went to a picnic in Bristol with some of them, and you can watch this video to appreciate the atmosphere in the team.
Finally, I am grateful to all those wonderful people I have met since July who are also doing great things for EU citizens. There are too many to name here, but I want to send very big hugs to everyone at In Limbo, EU citizens' Rights Champions, UNISON, Another Europe is Possible, Here for Good, JCWI, Migrants Rights Network, Migrants' Voice, NEON, IMIX, Voices for Europe, UKCEN, New Europeans and the EU Citizens' Right Project in Scotland. And a very special mention to our partner in the Brexit negotiations from December 2016 British in Europe.
European regards,
