In early June the Executive Staff Group* (ESG), Regional Communicators, and Bearfoot Creative, gathered to discussed the foundations of the upcoming Communications Hub. Delving into the inner workings of a website can be tedious, but necessary. Tim Wiebe-Neufeld, Doug Klassen and I met to create a site map for MCA. Tim kept emphasing a need to communicate "Why MCA?." Little did we know it would become the joke of the day which resulted in a flash mob rendition of "YMCA." Tim was onto something, however. You can find some insight by clicking the Why MCA? link.
*The Executive Staff Group is comprised of the five executive minister from each of MC Canada's region and the nationwide Executive Minister.

Dann Pantoja, in a June Waves.ca article, speaks of his many motivations for Peace and Reconciliation ministry in the Philippines. Dann emphasizes that his family, especially his grandchildren, are his “filial” motivation for the peace building activities and mission to which he and his wife Joji are engaged. Teachers serving with Mennonite Partners in China are finishing final exams and marking papers, looking forward to a well-earned summer break. Please pray for these teachers as they leave their students for the summer. Pray that they will find rest and refreshment. Pray for renewed energy to meet their students at the end of August with the care and compassion needed by these young people growing up in a complicated world.
International Witness worker in Thailand Tom Poovong reports that from July 15 – 17, “five Lao leaders will come to Khon Kaen Thailand to participate with our Thai leaders for training. This discipleship training will include our Anabaptist/Mennonite history and our focus on peace building in the Thai and Lao context.” Please pray for Tom as he seeks to best teach and learn from this gathering of Lao and Thai leaders.
Pray for colleagues of Mennonite Partners in China, and Jeanette Hanson as they meet with MCC IVEP alumni in early August. Pray that these young believers and church leaders will find space to freely share with and encourage each other. Pray that they will find ways to support the many ways these alumni are now serving in China.

Drawing from the best of contemporary biblical scholarship and the ancient well of Christian tradition, scholar and preacher Meghan Larissa Good helps readers consider why the Bible matters. Known for presenting complex theological ideas in accessible, engaging ways, Good delves into issues like biblical authority, literary genre, and Christ-centered hermeneutics, and calls readers beyond either knee-jerk biblicism, on the one hand, or sceptical disregard on the other.
