1.  First look at 'Jurassic World — The Ride': Set to reign at Universal Studios Hollywood

The dinosaurs are overrunning Universal Studios Hollywood again.  "Jurassic World — The Ride" has arrived, taking the place of "Jurassic Park — The Ride," which reigned supreme for 22 years before closing last year.

2.  Where to find all the Hawkins Fun Fair rides from ‘Stranger Things’ at a theme park near you

The Hawkins Fun Fair plays a prominent role in the third season of “Stranger Things” with a deadly midway that is filled with an assortment of classic thrill rides that you can still find at theme parks across the United States.  The dozen or so classic amusement rides from the 1980s and earlier in Mayor Kline’s Fourth of July Spectacular at the Hawkins Fairgrounds can still be found today at theme parks in California, New York, Pennsylvania, Florida, Indiana, New Jersey, Ohio and near you.

3.  Smoking volcanoes and roaring dinosaurs: Plopsaland opens Dino Splash

A popular attraction in Plopsaland De Panne has undergone a huge transformation. The traditional water course De Boomstammetjes has been converted into Dino Splash in recent months, with smoking volcanoes and lava flows. There are several dinosaurs along the track. 

4.  Leaked Super Nintendo World theme park models look amazing

Fans have got their first good look at how the Super Nintendo World theme park land will work and it seems like a video game come to life.  Park areas in Japan and Universal Orlando were announced back in 2016, with what seemed to be only a vague bit of concept art. Except these models, which leaked online over the weekend, seem to match up with it perfectly.

5.  10 New Theme Parks Opening Across The World Soon

There are hundreds of theme parks across the world, and the list keeps growing. With entertainment companies and movie studios continually looking to expand their reach, amusement parks are springing up everywhere.  While you’ll have to wait a few years for some on this list to open, others will be welcoming guests as soon as next month. Please keep your hands, arms, and legs inside the ride vehicle. Here are ten theme parks that will be operating soon.

6.  Ocean Park Hong Kong introduces new VR free fall ride

Thrill seekers, rejoice! If you’re sick and bored of going on the same roller-coasters in Hong Kong, Ocean Park Hong Kong is changing things up by introducing a new virtual reality component to The Abyss, making the already-terrifying free-fall ride even more mind-blowing.

7.  Families shocked by Hersheypark’s response to reported abduction attempt

Derry Township Police Department is investigating the report of an attempted abduction at the Hersheypark Boardwalk. The families involved say they’re in shock at how the park’s employees handled the incident.  Witnesses say a woman repeatedly tried to separate a boy from his group.

8.  Steel Curtain Construction Update a Week Ahead of Opening

We’ve been eagerly awaiting the opening of The Steel Curtain at Kennywood ever since naming it our most anticipated roller coaster of 2019. And the wait is almost over. The park announced the grand opening will be on Saturday, July 13th. We visited the park on the 4th of July and got our first in-person look at this monster of a roller coaster.

9.  New exhibition in the Efteling Museum opens: models and information about the fairytale forest

The Dutch amusement park Efteling has opened a new exhibition in the Efteling Museum on July 7, 2019, where visitors can find all sorts of information and objects around the iconic fairytale forest. As occasion for the opening of a new exhibition was the imminent completion of the new fairy tale for "The Six Swans" .

10.  Select Disney Skyliner Stations Set To Open Next Month at Walt Disney World, Date Just Ahead of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge

Many guests are excited to take their first ride on the Disney Skyliner high above the Vacation Kingdom of the World, but also want to know just when that might be. While those adverse to heights, claustrophobic spaces, or perhaps those just afraid of the possible high temperatures inside of the gondolas may not be quite as excited, those of you anticipating the newest Walt Disney World transportation system will be happy to know that you’ll likely be able to ride through the skies beginning in August 2019.

11.  Watch: Disneyland Stops Rides After 7.1 Earthquake Shakes Southern California

Even the Happiest Place on Earth came to a halt Friday when an earthquake with a magnitude of 7.1 rattled Southern California.  A Disneyland Park visitor shared video which showed the usually dark Space Mountain attraction illuminated as it was stopped mid-ride by workers after the quake struck.

11.  Bandai Namco opens VR and video game theme park Mazaria to Mario, Pac-Man and Co. in Tokyo

Japanese video game developer Bandai Namco Entertainments opens Mazaria VR and video game theme park on July 12, 2019 at the Sunshine City Tokyo theme park complex. Numerous virtual activities are intended to entice guests, among others, into the video game worlds of Mario Kart and Pac-Man .

12.  Room on the Broom for all the family: the making of Chessington’s magical new walk-through experience

Chessington World of Adventures Resort has turned again to celebrated children’s author Julia Donaldson to help it reimagine a walk-through attraction at the UK theme park. Room on the Broom – A Magical Journey has been delighting families since the start of the season.

13.  Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is running out of lightsabers, kyber crystals and droid parts, but there’s still plenty of souvenirs to bring home from Batuu

The shelves at Disney’s new theme park land Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in California aren’t bare, but there are a few items you won’t be able to get your hands on right away.  The Black Spire Outpost on the planet Batuu is a mecca for Star Wars fans. Here fans can immerse themselves in the Star Wars universe by building their own lightsabers and droids, sipping on some blue milk and aligning themselves with the Resistance or the First Order.

15.  The 10 Tallest Amusement Park Rides In The World (And Where To See Them)

Are you a thrill seeker who loves extreme amusement park rides? Do the sudden massive drops from a ride give you goosebumps? Then you're in luck. There are many different theme parks around the world, and all of them want to have the fastest, longest, and tallest rides out there. They are always building and adding on to theme parks, trying to top previous records in height and speed.

16.  Walt Disney World has changed A LOT Over the Past Twenty Years...

One of the Walt Disney World’s greatest strengths has always been the power of nostalgia-- a timeless wonder that has transcended generations. How many of us, when we think of Walt Disney World, think straight back to fond childhood memories or our first visit? We may remember the sweet bliss of a rice cream or a Mickey Mouse ice cream bar under the hot Florida sun. Theme parks and change go hand in hand. Theme park progress and development is inevitable. As an entertainment medium, theys are always changing, ever evolving and in a constant state of growth. However, as space is finite, sometimes you have to destroy before you can create.

18.  Traveling around Disney World? Make sure to take a look at those buses

On your next trip to Walt Disney World, you’ll notice a new look on the theme park’s buses.  Painted big and bold on the exterior: Mickey, Minnie and other iconic characters.  This month, Walt Disney World buses were given a fresh coat of paint and a sparkly new interior, according to Disney Parks Blog, the theme parks official blog.

19.  Diyar Al Muharraq supports launch of largest underwater theme park in Bahrain

Manama: Diyar Al Muharraq, one of the leading developers in the Kingdom of Bahrain, announced its support to the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism and its continued collaboration with the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority to establish the world’s largest underwater theme park.  The theme park, which is located around 50km from Diyar Al Muharraq, aims to revive the marine ecosystem within an ideal environment helping it to grow and thrive as well as to ensure biodiversity in Bahraini waters.

20.  "Thrills and Spills": The 900-year history of amusement parks

The success of Disneyland helped launch the modern theme park industry -- but the concept of the amusement park dates back centuries. The story is detailed in the new book "The Amusement Park: 900 Years of Thrills and Spills, and the Dreamers and Schemers Who Built Them" by Steve Silverman. Don Dahler reports.
 

21.  Meet me at ‘the rides’: Paul Bunyan Amusement Park provided memories for a lifetime

For almost five decades, families in Bemidji and visitors to the area took the children to the Paul Bunyan Amusement Park -- to “the rides,” where the youngsters drove mini-race cars, airplanes and little boats (in real water); the older kids rode the Tilt-A-Whirl, Swings, Scrambler, Berry-Go-Round, and Rock & Roll; and people of all ages enjoyed the Ferris wheel and vintage carousel with real, carved-wood horses.

22.  Adventurers flock to abandoned Newfoundland amusement park, railway site

Once a bustling family attraction and the site of a rare piece of North American railway history, visiting the Trinity Train Loop in eastern Newfoundland now feels like walking into a post-apocalyptic movie scene.  Train cars with smashed windows are covered in graffiti. 

1.  Museum starts 'live' restoration of Rembrandt masterpiece

Amsterdam's famed Rijksmuseum on Monday began a historic restoration of Rembrandt's "The Night Watch", erecting a huge glass cage around the painting so the public can see the work carried out live.

2.  Parents spread the word of Sensory Sensitive Sundays at Chuck E. Cheese

Parents of children with Autism are encouraging others to help them increase the attendance at monthly events designated for these children called Sensory Sensitive Sundays.

3.  Space capsules big draw at Ohio museums

Manned, space-flow capsules are holy grails sought out by many traveling space buffs, and Ohio has two more to see in addition to the Gemini 8 capsule at the Armstrong Air & Space Museum in Wapakoneta.

4.  Birmingham's Legoland Discovery Centre celebrates first birthday - review

Just yesterday it seemed the attraction had opened its doors in Birmingham but now it moves into its second year on the banks of the canal along King Edwards Street.

5.  Downton Abbey: The Exhibition opens at Biltmore on Nov. 8

Fans of of the fictional upper-crust Crawley family can immerse themselves in the world of post-Edwardian England when Downton Abbey: The Exhibition opens on November 8 for a five-month run at Asheville, North Carolina’s Biltmore estate.

6.  CONSTRUCTION CONTINUES FOR NEW GO-KART TRACK IN ST. JOSEPH

Work continues on a new go-kart track that is being constructed near Joe Town Mini Golf in St. Joseph and will expand what amenities are being offered at the location.

7.  Kidzania opens first U.S. location in Texas this fall

Kidzania is bringing its globally-popular brand of interactive edutainment centers to America for the first time, beginning this fall in Texas, and expanding to four locations across the country by 2021.  Kidzania USA’s headquarters is located in the Dallas metro area, and its first location will open at Stonebriar Centre in Frisco, Texas in fall 2019. Locations will open in Chicago and New York in 2020 and Los Angeles in 2021.

8.  Big adventures: WNC's ziplines, aerial parks offer high adrenaline for even little kids

The Asheville area is a national adventure destination. While many adults come here to participate in activities of all kinds, families and kids aren't without options.

9.  More on forthcoming entertainment complex

Waco businessman Mark Schulman, in an interview Saturday, provided a few more details about his plans to bring a 90,000-square-foot entertainment venue to South Loop 340 and Interstate 35, where it would anchor a 300-plus-acre mixed-use development.

10.  Gameseum Mega Arcade & Museum opens in Ephrata; here is a peek inside

Gameseum Mega Arcade & Museum has opened in downtown Ephrata with scores of classic arcade games and pinball machines. Located behind Royer’s Pharmacy, the arcade takes a 3,000-square-foot space at 27 N. State St. that is the former home of The Art of Recycle.

1.  Gardaland announces water park for 2020: Europe's first LEGOLAND water park

Italian Gardaland wants to open in 2020 the first LEGOLAND water park in Europe. For this purpose, we work together with the LEGO Group, which has recently taken over the operator group of the amusement park.

2.  Expertise contracted by water park pointed to manufacturer failures in slide where tourist died

An expert contracted by Beach Park indicated that there were flaws in the structure of Vainkará, a slide where, on July 16, 2018, the radio broadcaster Ricardo José Hilário Silva died . The information was published on Sunday, 7, by Folha de São Paulo .

3.  Montana water park customers asked to watch out for waterborne illnesses

Recreational water use is the most common way to spread the parasite, which is a leading cause of waterborne disease among humans in the U.S.  Roger Elliott, Big Sky Waterpark general manager, says Crypto can be easily spread if a person who has had diarrhea and vomiting within the last two weeks enters the water.

4.  'Flowriders' flock to Whale's Tale Waterpark for wave-riding event

Despite having just 3 inches of manmade wave beneath them, some of the best flowriders in the world nonetheless made it look easy Sunday at the second annual Akua Beach Classic Pro-Am Flowdown at Whale’s Tale Waterpark.  Flowriding, whether on a scaled down surfboard or on a bodyboard, is an up-and-coming sport that its many supporters, including the folks at Whale’s Tale, think is gaining traction worldwide thanks to its mix of snowboarding, surfing and skateboarding.

5.  An Abandoned Water Park is an Excellent Playground for an Electric MX Rider

While it’s still sad that Alta Motors is dead, it’s pretty great that these bikes are still being used to their full potential. Josh Hill invades and absolutely dominates an old water park in Palm Springs, California to lay down the hoon gauntlet. And he rides atop an Alta MX. With a mix of bravery, silliness, and electric torque, Hill is able to accomplish some pretty impressive feats, including looping the loop in a giant funnel slide.
 

6.  MANTECA’S MEGA RESORT

An update on the $180 million Great Wolf Lodge project that when it opens will become Manteca’s biggest source of municipal tax revenue and the city’s second largest private employer will be provided during a community meeting on Thursday, July 11.

7.  Thrilling ride takes scary turn on new attraction at Whirlin' Waters, says parkgoer

 A parkgoer said she got more spills than thrills at a new attraction at a county water park.  Seeking a thrill is part of what attracts people to water parks.  The Washout is a new ride at Wannamaker Park that takes that thrill to new heights, too much for some.  “It just happened so fast, I was like ‘please don’t go over the edge,'” said Julia Davison.
Aquarium / Zoo News

1.  Zoo vandals let bobcat, raccoon briefly escape, police say

Police are searching for whoever cut locks and fencing on exhibits at a New Mexico zoo, allowing four animals, including a bobcat, to escape before they were quickly found nearby.  Police in Roswell, New Mexico, say they discovered the vandalism after a visitor noticed cut fencing at the red-tailed hawk exhibit Sunday.

2.  Red Panda briefly escapes exhibit for second time in two months

A Chinese Red Panda at the Red River Zoo in Fargo briefly escaped from its enclosure on Saturday, according to zoo officials.  "He was just so agile and not even afraid of anything and just went for it," said Ashley Dedin, a Red River Zoo member.

3.  2 rare Barbary lion cubs born in Czech zoo

Two Barbary lion cubs have been born in a Czech zoo, a welcome addition to a small surviving population of a rare lion subspecies that has been extinct in the wild.  The pair, one male and one female, were born on May 10 in the Dvur Kralove park. Under the guidance of mother Khalila, they have taken their first steps in their enclosure in recent days. They have not yet been named.

4.  British Indian Lord Paul donates £1m for new London Zoo reserve

LEADING British Indian entrepreneur and parliamentarian Lord Swraj Paul has announced £1 million donation to the London Zoo for a major new project that will lead to creation of the Angad Paul African Reserve in memory of his late son.

5.  Taiping Zoo needs RM42m for upgrade

Despite recording an increase in the number of visitors, the Taiping Zoo and Night Safari, the oldest zoo in the nation,lacks the financial resources to embark on its multimillion ringgit expansion and development plan.  Its director,Dr Kevin Lazarus,said the zoo received more than 200,000 visitors until May this year,which is a 13 per cent increase compared with the same period last year.

6.  Brevard Zoo welcomes two Rock Hyrax Pups

Brevard Zoo recently welcomed two new Rock Hyrax Pups to their community.  Their names are Turnip and Raddish, but the public won't be able to see them at the zoo. The pups are considered ambassador animals and are used for educational programs.

7.  Topeka Zoo exhibit to offer chance to touch a shark

Visitors will be able to touch a shark later this month at the Topeka Zoo in Gage Park.  That opportunity will be available at “Saving Sharks,” a seasonal exhibit that will be open from late July through the end of September in the zoo’s former Butterfly Pavilion, the zoo said in a news release this past week.

8.  Mechanical mishap brings Skyfari zoo ride to a halt

A day at the zoo turned into an hour aloft for Skyfari travelers Saturday.  The ride that provides something of an aerial tour of the zoo grounds got stuck. The zoo says mechanical issues forced the ride to a halt. They say the ride does have a back-up system in place to stop these sort of incidents from happening but those on the ride say they were stuck up there for a long time.

9.  Cheyenne Mountain Zoo welcomes baby giraffe Saturday

It’s a girl, it’s a boy — it’s a giraffe.  The Cheyenne Mountain Zoo in Colorado Springs welcomed an addition to the herd Saturday as their 10-year-old reticulated giraffe Msitu gave birth to a baby, according to a news release.

10.  A new sign the St. Louis Aquarium is closer to reality

There’s a new sign the St. Louis Aquarium is getting closer to becoming a reality.  Construction crews have been working behind the scenes for months now to build up the latest attraction at Union Station. But, so far, the progress has been mostly hidden from view inside the historic building.  Until now.

1.  Underperforming Philippines Extends Tax Breaks to Attract Tourism Investors

The Philippines is extending tax incentives for another decade to help stimulate investments in its tourism enterprise zones to help it achieve an ambitious goal of luring 12 million foreign arrivals by 2022.

2.  Royal Caribbean’s new ship, Spectrum of the Seas, includes AR games and VR trampolining

Royal Caribbean International’s newest ship, Spectrum of the Seas, features new digital experiences, from immersive augmented reality games to virtual reality trampolining.
The first Quantum Ultra Class ship, which made its debut in China last month, also boasts digital room keys, laser tag, karaoke, and a surf simulator.

5.  A Saudi airline is dropping a $6 billion order for 737 Max planes as Boeing's crisis deepens

An airline dropped a $6 billion order for Boeing's embattled 737 Max planes, turning to European rival Airbus instead to grow its fleet as the crisis with the aircraft continues.
