Time has flown since the inaugural session of Santa Nana's Holiday University in Canal WInchester, OH last August. We just wrapped up the Durham, NC session and are preparing for Fresno July 19-21, and Tulsa September 13-15.
What a fabulous weekend our Durham attendees experienced, and we were honored to have 15 Mrs. Clauses, one elf, and three Santas in the graduating class. We had first-time and seasoned performers, and everyone took away new insights into the role, value, and contribution that our ladies in the Christmas Community bring. SNHU is more than a school for Mrs. Clauses – it is proving to be a different point of view for holiday education for everyone involved, as well as, making lasting memories and friendships.
Our Durham hosts, Susan and Don Lebkes and Gina Happ did a phenomenal job coordinating all the logistics, and we can’t thank them enough. A special thanks to all the local folks who contributed to the weekend. Everyone supported the goal to have specialized topics and community service projects important to the group. First, we collected art supplies to support the East Durham Children’s Initiative and a representative spoke about the contribution they are making to the community. Then, we had a representative from The Arc talk about Special Needs visits. Plus, Santa Shannon gave us new insights into photography and took photos we can use in our marketing efforts.
Another highlight was including the Mrs. Claus Commission, adding to the commitment that each of us has to portray our characters with integrity, dignity, and passion. We never forget that we are modeling for the next generation of holiday performers.
