Petr Stanický
Place of the day and night
22nd of June-15th of September

With the exhibition “Place of the day and night” Czech artist Petr Stanický (b. 1975) opened S12’s new gallery space at Bontelabo. Among the works he is showing is a site specific installation - a three dimensional painting, inspired by the changing light conditions occurring in the transition between day and night.

Petr Stanický is a classically trained sculptor working with glass – almost like an architect. In his pieces he repeats and exaggerates some aspects of the surrounding architecture, revoking in the viewer a stronger experience of both the work and its surroundings. This is the first time Petr Stanický is showing his work in Norway. Read more

Patrícia Šichmanová
"mellom_rom"
exhibition in the project room
3rd-31st of August

Patrícia Šichmanová (Slovakia) has a MFA from the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava, 2017. Her master project won third prize in the international competition Stanislav Libensky Award. During 6 years of exploring the possibilities of glass, Šichmanová also studied metal at Høgskolen i Sørøst-Norge and glass and ceramic design at Häme University of Applied Sciences, Finland. Drawing her inspiration from nature, the Nordic landscape made a big impact on her and consequently on her works.

Petr Stanický (Czech) was our artist in residence in June. During this period he worked on a site specific installation for the exhibition "Place of the day and night” that opened in the gallery 21st of June.

Kiyoshi Yamamoto is taking part in our Lokal Air program. His first period as an air was in 2018, and some of the work he developed was part of the exhibition Passive Aggressive at Ram Galleri, Oslo. This time around he is developing a series of functional and semi functional works with simple forms and brilliant coloring.

Dan Mirer is a Gaffer in Residence in July, and will contribute in the production of  Kiyoshi Yamamotos new glasswork. Mirer has been an independent designer/maker since 2004, and creates a range of work including tableware and home décor. In the past few years, Mirer has been involved with The Corning Museum of Glass; in its Hot Glass programs as well as The Studio’s Artist-in-Residence program.

Maria René Morales Lam is joining us as an AiR in July-August. She has a MA in Glass Art and Science, from VICARTE, Universidade Nova de Lisboa, 2016. Her work explores a range of scientific phenomena related to light, space and time.  During her stay in S12 she will be experimenting with different techniques, making new work for the upcoming exhibition Young & Loving!

Moonju Suh will be volunteering as an assistant in S12 this summer.  She is a MFA Glass student from Edinburgh College of Art.
