Our Purpose and Mission:

Possum Kingdom Lake Association (PKLA) is organized as a group to help protect Possum Kingdom Lake’s environment and bring people together as a community of shared interest or need.

PKLA will build awareness of shared needs through promotion and outreach by providing forums for community involvement with a priority of protection of the Lake’s resources and the community.

We Had a Great Annual Meeting and Turnout!

We had a great turnout at our Annual Meeting on June 8th! Thank you to all who came, and a special thanks to our volunteers for organizing and facilitating the meeting! We were able to share with you the past accomplishments of the PKLA as well as our current initiatives. We welcome our new members to the PKLA!

The water level has stayed consistently close to capacity over the last few years with high rainfall totals, but also due to the agreements the PKLA has negotiated with the Brazos River Authority. In 2014 the PKLA signed an unprecedented agreement with BRA that restricts new water sales from PK and gives the PKLA the ability to verify BRA’s compliance.

Since the community at Possum Kingdom Lake is not incorporated as a public entity, there is no single voice for members of the community. PKLA provides organized and funded community support for those services that our members often need such as fire and ambulance service as well as community activities which benefit all of our members.

The Hell's Gate Fireworks show is scheduled for July 6th, 2019

View the firework show by boat on the water or enjoy watching the show from the YMCA Camp Grady Spruce - located at the end of Park Road 36.

Fireworks, concessions and lots of fun. Bring your lawn chairs and/or blanket and you can also bring your own picnic. The YMCA gate will open @ 6:30pm and will close the gate at 8:45pm (no exceptions).

Fishing Report : June 19, 2019 - Possum Kingdom Lake - Water fairly clear; 73–81 degrees; 0.13’ high.
Black bass are fair to good on Carolina rigs, drop shot rigs and jigs.
Crappie are fair to good on split shot rigged live minnows and jigs around deeper structure.
White bass are fair to good on tail spinners and live shad.
