Mad Woman Healed
-by Prasant N.
I supervise storytellers in a difficult area where the people still practice human sacrifice. One day one of our adult literacy teachers there called me on the phone. He said, "Pastor, sir, please come to my village this evening. A woman here has gone mad and they are asking me to help her. So, please come and we will go and pray for her."
He and I went to their house and the family received us gladly. The 28-yr-old wife was just sitting on the floor in a corner of the house. She was not dressed properly; I could see she was not bathing and they said she had not been eating either.
So I prayed to God, "LORD, please, somehow, do the miracle here. This woman is not able to listen, but you talk with her husband and you do a miracle here."
She has two children, a daughter and a son, and they were just wandering around. The husband begged me, "Somehow you must help us. Please do something to make her well."
"LORD, please, somehow, do a miracle here. This woman is not able to listen, but you talk with her husband and you do a miracle."
I said, "Bring your wife here." When he brought her beside me, I told them the Creation story. I said, "God is our Creator and He is also our Healer." I told them, "Do not worry. God will heal. You just believe."
After I finished telling the Creation story, I told the story about the man who had a legion of demons. After telling the stories we prayed for the woman.
I said to him, "Take care of your wife. Give her a bath, and make her dress well."
When we were about to leave, the husband came and gave us a 100 rupee note. I told him again, "Don't worry. Just believe God, and don't neglect to come to church. God will heal your wife."
Since then they have been coming regularly to our prayer and fellowship meetings. Now she has gotten so much better; she's even able to do her house work.
Please pray for the people in that area, that many will come to the LORD. Thank you.
A Curse Lifted
Someone in Namkhonda village had done witchcraft in order to destroy Budhra and Budhri. They were thin as rails, and neither was able to walk any longer.
This happened because of a dispute over land -- some of their relatives wanted to to kill them so they could get the entire property.
They had spent a lot of money going here and there trying to get well, but nothing had helped.
Finally, they came to talk to our our adult literacy teacher who was telling stories in their village. I'm the supervisor for the storyteller-literacy project in that area, so he called me for advice.
I told him to bring them to our church. He did and they stayed in our church while we prayed for them for a month, before they were able to return to their village.
Budhra and Budhri they had not gotten baptized because they were unable to walk. But since we prayed for them, now they are telling us,
"The next time you come, we will walk to the river without anyone's help. We want to be baptized and we will not go back home until you have baptized us. We will follow the Lord in water baptism now!"
