John Dix responds to the Review of Capita Contracts

When there is a problem, decisive action is necessary. The fraud and the subsequent report from Grant Thornton was a wake-up call that Capita were failing in so many aspects of the service. This was the opportunity and impetus for change. The report to the committee appears superficial and without rigour. It shows a reluctance and timidity to change and resolve the problems that are clear for all to see. It suggests your acceptance of failure by Capita and that there are no better solutions.... Capita shares drop to £1 on the day Barnet renews contract. The shares were £1.50 a year ago. Can Capita shares now be bought at the Poundshop? What does this indicate about the strength of Capita?
The Right to Live Independently

Following a successful and large public meeting on the 21 May,  a lobby was held of the committee  in support of Cllr Reema Patel’s Members' Item flagging up the risk of forcing individual disabled residents into residential care homes against their wishes.

Barnet council’s policy was challenged in the House of Lords by the crossbench disabled peer Baroness Campbell. As a result, the Government has agreed to examine the cost-cutting of home care in Barnet. Read more here.
