à la une

It's July 1 — and this is a downloadable, printable calendar for July. It is extremely red and blue. Happy Fourth of July!

Instagram of the week: Joe + Sophie TLA. Also: How about a map of Paris's most-Instagrammable places

Now: Attention! The famous French "soldes" are currently ongoing — and that includes French retailers shipping internationally. Of particular attention: this exceptionally classic bikini from Naelie, which appears to be the only item they have not currently on sale. (Almost everything else is on sale.) Sandro's on sale, too, but this is literally the only piece of clothing from that collection I like. I also love Des Petits Hauts, fully on sale, but they don't ship outside of the E.U. It's sort of like Anthropologie for people who are into a sort of pre-fame Snow White forest-demure situation.

Some more news from France:
1. BREAKING NEWS: This is the castle where Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas will get married, or got married, or whatever. Weekly rentals only June through September — and P.S., that'll be €178,500.

2. "Celine Dion Pulled a Carrie Bradshaw in Paris with Mismatched Stilettos" but TBH it looks like they came like that to me. More intense Celine Dion fashion news here, with a cut-to-there bodysuit worn as not-pants

3. One of the best things about living in France is picking out errors in major outlets' Paris coverage, like this T&L piece on where to eat for under €15

4. Concrete, the premier Seine-side floating club, is closing but you have three weeks to get a last look/dance.

5. The New York subway has its issues, but at least it is (usually) reliably air conditioned — and if it's not you're entitled to march out of that car and shout about the MTA (or, as I did many times, sit in the sauna-situation because the un-AC'd car was entirely empty, so at least you could get a seat). This is not true in Paris, where it has been a zillion degrees. The Local has the details on the hottest of all the Paris métro lines (90 degrees!).

A bientôt,
D.
