Where the crawdads sing by Delia Owens
Brand new addition to the Book Club Kit collection!
For years, rumours of the “Marsh Girl” have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast. So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand. Then the time comes when she yearns to be touched and loved. When two young men from town become intrigued by her wild beauty, Kya opens herself to a new life–until the unthinkable happens.
Wingecarribee Libraries have 72 Book Club Kits available for loan so you can share your reading with friends.

Newspapers on microfilm
Local newspapers are closely tied to a sense of community and play an important role in our ability to know about, discuss and understand the issues that affect us locally and further afield.
The Southern Highland News for 1961-2008 is available on microfilm in Bowral Library. These can be used to find family notices, articles of interest, or to get a taste of what was happening around a particular time. In addition to the Southern Highland News we hold the microfilm for a large number of other local newspapers. See what we hold here.
The library can also connect you to more recent editions of the Southern Highland News; state, national and international newspapers through the State Library of New South Wales; and historic digitised papers through TROVE. Visit our eResources page or contact the Library to learn more.
Remember, if you’d like help using any of our eResources, ask a staff member or book in for a Tech Time Session, where you’ll receive 30 minutes of one-on-one help with your technology issues.
Local Studies is open 2.00pm-4.00pm Tuesday and Thursday afternoons, upstairs in the Old Town Hall, in front of Bowral Library. See what we have in the collection here.

Author of the month : Jack Heath
Jack Heath is the award winning author of over twenty thrillers, including Just one bite (for adults) and the Liars series (for children). Many of his books have been translated into six languages and adapted for film.
Jack was born in Sydney and has lived in Canberra since he was 9 years old. He now lives on the land of the Ngunnawal people in Gunghalin, Australia, with his wife and son.
Jack fell in love with reading in primary school, while he had an ear infection which left him without much else to do. He wrote his first novel while in high school, which was picked out of a slush pile and published. It soon became an international success.
Jack is really “jack of all trades” - a fry cook, music teacher, web developer, street magician, tech support agent and even has his own popular YouTube Channel.
Liars is an action packed thriller series about a kid who invents a lie detection app, accidentally exposing everyone’s darkest secrets and making him the target of a criminal mastermind known only as Viper. Perfect for reluctant readers aged 10+.
