The Health Literacy page on the IEPCP website has recently been updated to include resources and links to the free online VicPCP health literacy training package.

7-14 July is NAIDOC Week
This year the theme for NAIDOC Week is Voice. Treaty. Truth. Working together for a shared future.
The theme is derived from the Uluru Statement of the Heart, which set out these three elements as the basis for reform: a First Nations Voice to Parliament enshrined in the Constitution; a Makarrata Commission to supervise treaty processes and truth-telling.

Grants
Victorian Responsible Gambling Foundation
Applications are now open for the Victorian Responsible Gambling Foundation’s Prevention Partnerships Program. This year, the Foundation is looking to fund programs and initiatives under two streams:
    -smaller grants for capacity building projects aiming to raise awareness of gambling harm; and
    -larger grants for the delivery of innovative, primary prevention initiatives to at-risk communities.

Got an idea to inspire your community to get moving? We encourage entries from schools, tertiary institutions, councils and community groups as well as culturally and linguistically diverse communities.

Westpac Social Change Fellowship
This program offers a rare opportunity to invest in individuals leading positive social change in Australia.
Each recipient will receive $50,000 to put towards a 12-month personal and professional development plan that will give them the opportunity to further enhance their skills, expand their networks, and explore new opportunities so they are better equipped to drive positive change. Applications close on 2 August 2019.

Health and Climate Change Survey
Sustainability Victoria is conducting state-wide research to measure levels of awareness and understanding of the health impacts of climate change. Their research includes a healthcare professional /healthcare worker survey to record the health impacts they may already be seeing in their community, and/or expect to see in the future.

Jean Hailes Women's Health Survey
The Jean Hailes annual Women's Health Survey is one of the country's most revealing insights into the health concerns and needs of women in Australia. Results of the online survey are used in many ways; from identifying gaps in health information, to helping health professionals better understand their patients, to encouraging women to make practical, positive changes to their lives.

National Mental Health Commission Consultations
Connections is about connecting with you in your community, to understand your personal experiences of the mental health system to inform a shared 2030 Vision for Mental Health and Suicide Prevention. As part of the Connections project, the Commission will be visiting 23 communities across Australia to hold Town Hall meetings during July, August and September.

Navigating Mental Health Supports Forum
This forum is for health and community service staff, both clinical and nonclinical, and provides essential information about the various mental health and psychosocial supports now available to people along the mental ill-health spectrum. WITS: Women Influencing Tech Spaces
Social media can amplify the voices of women who are too often silenced in public debate: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women, women from CALD communities, women who identify as LGBTQI and women with disabilities.
But with these benefits comes risks, including the risk of cyber abuse. Women Influencing Tech Spaces gives women the psychological armour to interact online with impact and confidence.

AIHW: Australian Burden of Disease Study 2015
Burden of disease measures the impact of living with illness and injury and dying prematurely. The summary measure ‘disability-adjusted life years’ (or DALY) measures the years of healthy life lost from death and illness. Check out the interactive data component and reporting here

Social Determinants of Health Webinars
There is widespread evidence demonstrating the relationship between the health and wellbeing of an individual and the environments in which they are born, grow, live, work and age. Factors such as employment, housing, education and social support can work to strengthen or destabilise the health of people and their communities. These factors are referred to as the social determinants of health (SDoH).
The Social Determinants of Health Webcast Series invites you to join other health, social and community care providers online to create a shared language around SDoH.
