What have we been up to this week?

Hi! Here's your 68th ScourgeBringer open development newsletter issue!

Previously on ScourgeBringer: we worked on adding new drone weapons to the game.

Last week, we continued our work on the new drone weapons.

The game now has a total of 13 different weapons that can spawn randomly in rooms or in the shop. We were initially scheduling about 5 of them for the next alpha update but Florian has been on a row!

We're also revamping how reloading the drone works. Previously it involved too many metrics for the system to be understood properly. We had difficulties ourselves to explain it to other people, and when this happens, it means that we have to rework it!

The game now makes use of a single bar that will charge upon hitting enemies with the sword. When it's full, it gives back X ammo to the drone. It's way more straightforward while still giving us rooms for drone upgrades.

To get the Alpha 2 ready, we have also been working on the super attack!

With all of this in the game, we pretty much have the content ready for Alpha 2. We are going to spend the week to come on making the weapon's UI better, fixing/polishing a few things, and then the alpha update should be released!

See you next Monday for more info on the upcoming Alpha 2!

Cheers,
Thomas

How is our budget doing?

Every week, we update our production budget based on our initial budget and our ongoing revenues.

ScourgeBringer budget is counted in "months of subsistence" instead of money. We believe that it is a more understandable way to explain how budgets are constructed and consumed.

Our remaining budget is: 9.91 months (43.08 weeks)*

  • So far, we consumed -15.87 months (-69 weeks) from working of this project;
  • And we consumed -1.22 months (-5.30 weeks) from investing (e.g. buying hardware, paying for services...);
  • We also earned back +15.00 months (+65.21 weeks) from our ongoing revenues (e.g. NeuroVoider & Boo! Greedy Kid sales, contract work...).

Our initial budget for ScourgeBringer was 12 months when we started.

For a more detailed breakdown of our budget construction, you can refer to the first issue of this newsletter.
*1 week = 0.23 month (based on a 365-day year and a 7-day week)
