Below you will read about TYSA workgroups, decisions of the TYSA Steering Committee, and important partner updates and upcoming events.

Hot off the press! 2018-2019 YDS data is in. Above is a snapshot on some of our consumption measures. Be on the lookout for an upcoming Data Partner Pulse!

- The workgroup is creating an online module for the Parents You Matter curriculum. The workgroup is currently trying to work with actors and individuals who can do voice overs for the module in both English and Spanish.
- Positive feedback was given toward the Just Talk campaign, focused on parents and their children having the discussion around substance use. The group discussed how to get messaging across.
- Prom Campaign resulted in 2,500 stickers and 30 tent cards distributed among schools, venues, and community businesses. In the future, workgroup will work to improve the campaign content and will seek the input of young people once more.
- The group brainstormed marijuana prevention messaging, including seeking youth input and building partnerships with other agencies doing similar work.

- TYSA is working with Outfront Media (MTA) in order to promote Just Ask on buses and the railway on Staten Island.
- If you are interested in being a part of the Just Ask Campaign, please reach out to Abby or Jazmin in order to receive the posters.
- Katherine, a physician at NYU, spoke about her work around opioids with young people. Katherine and the young people she works with are willing to join some of the work the workgroup is already doing.
- The NYPD Community Affairs Bureau wants to collaborate with TYSA and have a narcan training event on the island. The workgroup has decided to plan various trainings for one day, on August 31st (International Overdose Awareness Day), throughout Staten Island (Tompkinsville Park, South Beach, Elltingville, and Princess Bay).

- Discussed plans for meeting with local legislators, as well as the Division of the Budget, towards the end of the summer/beginning of September in addition to planning for the upcoming legislative briefing.
- Due to talks about loosening the guidelines for medical marijuana, the group discussed revising TYSA's medical marijuana statement.

- Discussed the continued training of PAX (social emotional learning program for grades K-2) to school teachers, administrators, and partners throughout June and July. To date over 100 people have been trained.
- Sasha from the Drug Policy Alliance spoke about the alliance's Safety First harm reduction-based drug education curriculum and its successes.
- Volunteers finished distributing the last of the prom campaign materials to community businesses throughout the island.

- Welcome new chair Stephen Cacace!
- The SI CASA Walk will be held on Oct 5, 2019 8:30 am to 12 pm at Midland Beach. The group spent the last two meetings planning the event.
- A new recovery center will be opening on Staten Island called Opening Doors Wellness & Recovery.
- The workgroup is working to update the TYSA directory, which is an inventory of all the SUD providers on the island.
- Jordan gave an update on peer reimbursements and the launch of OASAS's CRPA-Family (in July 2019) and CRPA-Youth (Jan 2020)
