Students on Brown campus for Summer@Brown

Greetings from the Department of Public Safety
July 2019 Newsletter

We'd love to see you at our upcoming events! Here are a few:

July 18 - DPS is hosting Get a Kick Out of Safety - in this session, we will share practical aspects of personal safety and self-defense options. Participants will learn to customize their approach to personal safety while also learning about factors which contribute to making a decision to employ self-defense in a variety of situations. Smith-Buonanno Hall, Rm. 101 - 1:30pm - 2:30pm. Register here.

July 23 - Our last Stop the Bleed, Save a Life safety session filled up quickly - here is another opportunity to learn how to save lives! Uncontrolled bleeding is a major cause of preventable deaths. Approximately 40% of trauma-related deaths worldwide are due to bleeding or its consequences. This 1-hour course is focused on raising awareness of how, with the proper training and materials, death from bleeding can be prevented. South Street Landing, Room 498 - 12:00pm - 1:00pm. This class counts toward Wellness Rewards. Register here.

August 6 - SAVE THE DATE! Brown will host our second annual National Night Out with the goal of making our communities safer, more caring places to live. Last year we had a great time with musical chairs, Del's, face painting, horses, therapy dogs, and an outdoor movie. Would you like to sponsor an event, have a table representing your department, or be involved in your own way? We'd love that! Email us!
