Your dairy sheep association has a new website...
... and a new Member Directory for you to join!

Thanks to an intrepid flock of DSANA volunteers, there is now a fresh, new DSANA website that links you (and the public) to a community of dairy sheep farmers, sheep milk processors, dairy sheep researchers, and businesses that support the dairy sheep industry. The site features:
  • A new Member Directory, searchable by the public - get your free listing by renewing your membership or by becoming a member for the first time;
  • Easy online registration for our upcoming annual Dairy Sheep Symposium, this year in Idaho Falls, Idaho, Nov. 7-12;
  • Technical information for members only, including 25 years of Symposium Proceedings and soon-to-come interviews with producers who have utilized Laparoscopic Artificial Insemination for breeding;
  • Information to improve your flock's production through our dairy sheep Production Improvement Project and details on how to access the highest quality dairy sheep genetics through our Semen Importation Project;
  • Easy ways to renew your membership or join DSANA for the first time
Speaking of membership -- it's July, which means it's time for ALL current members of DSANA to renew. We also encourage newcomers to join. Please become a member today to get your free listing in the DSANA Member Directory, access to member-only pages on the website, and discounts to the 2019 Symposium.

The DSANA board welcomes your feedback on the new website and anything else. Comment by replying to this message or by emailing dsanasheep@gmail.com.

We'll see you on the website!

PRESIDENT'S CORNER
By Bee Tolman, DSANA Board President

See this guy? This is Kyle White. Kyle and his wife, Cait, own and operate Milkhouse Farm & Dairy, in Smith Falls, Ontario. Between bouts of lambing and milking and hay-making, Kyle has led the charge this spring to produce our new website, which required both building a new site on a new platform and moving all of DSANA’s membership information to a brand new membership management software system. What you will see on our new DSANA.org website is a great start to our ambitious plans, but it now includes a much needed Member Directory. At the 2018 Dairy Sheep Symposium, we had a brainstorming session and asked all the attendees what they thought our industry needed the most. The hands-down top response was “We need a way to find each other -- to find other people doing what we’re doing, and to know how to reach them.“  And with this new website, we have exactly that. The Member Directory, I believe, will be a game-changer for many of us. Kyle, if you are getting the warm and fuzzies right now, it’s because many people have read this and already seen the new website, and are sending their appreciation your way!
Give us your best shot!

We need photos... of sheep dairying and sheep milk processing in all its many forms. Be a part of DSANA's effort to excite the public about sheep's milk products. Send us your photos of:
  • Sheep in pasture or parlor
  • Farmers or farmworkers doing daily tasks
  • Livestock guardian animals on the job
  • Yogurt, cheese, ice cream, or bottled milk
  • Cheesemakers at work
  • Customers at on-farm events or farmers' markets
Send photos by replying to this email or by writing to dsanasheep@gmail.com. Be sure to include your name and/or farm name, and your location. We'll get your permission for how and where the photos will be used. If your photos were taken by a professional photographer, please provide their name. Thanks!
