Perfect temperatures, sunny skies, and great group of folks welcomed all the riders for the 2019 TCD Longest Day Ride at Cycle-Moore in Interlochen, Michigan. This ride has been a TCD staple for many, many, years - and this could have been the best one yet.
Alex (and Bikrum) were victorious in their Interlochen to Evert quest. They conquered the sand!
For the Longest Day Ride this year, we had 7 riders make their way up to Interlochen on Thursday to get an early start to the weekend. Overall, we had 22 in attendance for the weekend, the ADV crew edged out the road riders 12-10.

We had a great dinner at the Hofbrau on Thursday, but for Friday we opted for Bradley's Pub & Grille which is walkable from the campground. The riding was fantastic both Friday and Saturday either off-road or on.

Many TCD'ers made the trek to Lebanon, Tennessee for the 2019 BMW MOA Rally. This was a month earlier than normal, and it paid off with much more moderate temps than often is the case. Word was that it may have been the "best one yet". Plan for next year in Montana!

Our annual Detroit Urban ride had a huge turn-out this year. Our breakfast plans were a bit hectic, as the original restaurant told us the day before that they wouldn't be open at 9:00 for another week, but then they did open on time. This snafu split us between Los Galanes and Evie's Tamales in Mexican Town. Ultimately, it may have helped get us all fed in time with all the rider's that showed up. (I think that the folks at Evie's made out better though. Check it out sometime if you weren't there!). We had 32 riders tour through the sights of Detroit.
Lots and lots of bikes on the Urban Tour this year!
Many riders had an excellent time at the first BMW SEM track day of the year. Absolutely perfect weather was on tap for some of the most fun you can have on a motorcycle. These track days are a valuable skill-building experience that is open to all types of bikes and skill levels. They are really about having a perfect controlled environment to practice cornering and braking skills.

More great rides coming up!
The Washtenaw ADV Ride will be on SATURDAY, July 6th. We will depart from the Pinckney Town Square at approx 10:00 a.m. Arrive earlier for breakfast at either Aunt Betty's or the Pinckney Diner. Ride the scenic dirt roads of Washtenaw and Livingston County. It's all maintained dirt roads, and a very fun way to get that GS a little dirty (or at least a little dusty). The ride will conclude at approx. 1:30 at the Inverness on North Territorial Rd. More details and GPS routes will be posted in the forum on www.bmwtcd.org
We look forward to seeing everyone at the TCD night on Tuesday July 9th at the Sidetrack Bar & Grill in Ypsilanti. 56 E Cross St, Ypsilanti, MI 48198. Tuesdays are bike night in Ypsi, so there's always a crowd. You might have to walk around the Sidetrack to find the group, but we'll be there someplace. (Back deck, side room, etc.) Start time is 6:30, but some folks get there earlier. After a bite to eat, most make their way over to the Cafe Racer's new location to kick tires and tell lies.
The TCD Road and Trail will be held July 26-28. Hit the scenic, twisty, and hilly backroads in southern Ohio. The ride will have a gravel road option or all street option. We may see some sights in Hocking Hills State Park and a lot of curvy roads and verdant rural scenery. Book at either the Zanesville Hampton Inn, 1009 Spring Street, or the nearby Quality Inn, 500 Monroe St. We will ride down Friday July 26 and ride home Monday July 28. There will be rides Saturday and Sunday of 120 to 200 miles through the best roads East of the Rockies and North of the Smokies. You can depart on Sunday if you want to save a vacation day, but you will miss at least a half day of great riding and the company of fellow TCD’ers for post ride dinner and cocktails.
Volunteer Opportunities
We are looking for an Editor to assist with the monthly newsletter, someone to coordinate a T-Shirt sale, as well as contributors for website articles. Please let us know if you would like to help!
