Construction Activity Continues for I-85 Widening Project

BRASELTON, Ga., – Construction activity for the I-85 Widening project will require lane closures through Wednesday along the corridor in Gwinnett, Barrow, and Jackson counties.

Asphalt paving will necessitate single lane closures along I-85 southbound from SR 211 in Barrow County to Hamilton Mill Road in Gwinnett County, and bridge construction will necessitate single lane closures along I-85 northbound from SR 211 to Jesse Cronic Road in Jackson County.

Work for each activity will occur tonight and Tuesday night between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m.

Traffic pacing activity will also occur through Tuesday night. Pacing activities will take place southbound from SR 211 to Hamilton Mill Road and northbound from SR 211 to Jesse Cronic Road. Pacing will begin at 9 p.m. nightly and continue until 5 a.m. each morning.

To permit free flowing holiday traffic on Georgia interstates and highways, lane closure restrictions are in place from noon Wednesday until 10 p.m. Sunday.

Drivers are advised to obey posted speed limits and traffic control measures inside the project limits. Additional information about the I-85 Widening project can be found at http://www.dot.ga.gov/BS/Projects/SpecialProjects/I85WideningI985SR53.
