Everything Day

At the beginning of each school year the Dragon Band and Dragon Band Boosters hold a day to take care of a lot of important business. This is when you pick up your summer uniforms and practice shirts, fill out all of the necessary paperwork, and take care of your family funding commitments. We call it ”Everything Day” because we try to cover EVERYTHING your student will need for the season in just one day. You only have to attend your section’s assigned time slot in the day. When you arrive, you will attend a section meeting for you and your student, then on to the many stations needed to prepare you student for the marching season; THIS IS MANDATORY FOR ALL BAND STUDENTS (JV, Varsity, Guard) and very important that you attend. Here is where you will receive all of the necessary documents and forms that you will need to complete.

This year Everything Day is on Saturday July 27th. Please mark your calendars. Each Student and their Parent/Guardian has a section meeting to attend at their designated time below. We need you there with your student to accomplish everything and to make it all run smoothly. Please make every effort to attend at the time of your student’s section. NOTE: These section times are different than in years past in an effort to streamline the day for everyone involved.

Remember that these are the revised times for each section:

  • 9am - Percussion

  • 10am - Euphoniums & Tubas

  • 11am - Clarinets

  • 12pm - Trumpets

  • 1pm - Flutes

  • 2pm - Saxophones

  • 3pm - Trombones

  • 4pm - Guard/Horns

Some important reminders about Everything Day:

  1. Please come at your scheduled section time.

  2. You and your Student are both necessary and need to attend TOGETHER.

  3. Please volunteer to help but do not volunteer for time slots that overlap with your scheduled section times if possible.

  4. Please do not sign up for uniform fittings or other activities during your section time slot.

  5. It will take approximately 1 hour to complete the section meeting, navigate all of the information stations, fill out all of the forms, and check out.

Everything Day Volunteers Needed

The Dragon Band marching season has begun and we need YOUR help! It takes a small army of volunteers to make Everything Day run smoothly for us all. This is a great opportunity to get involved and meet some new Band Parents. New and Returning Band Families - this is for you. There is no experience necessary. If you’ve never volunteered before, that’s perfectly ok. We provide on-the-job training to everyone. It’s easy, it's fun, and we can’t do it without you! Band Dads, this means you too!

Please consider signing up for a shift or two today.

Just please remember to avoid signing up for times that overlap your section meeting times.

For those new band families, we use Sign Up Genius as a way to track volunteers and to make sure we have enough people to participate. You can view the sign up for Everything Day here:

More sign ups for other volunteer activities will be coming your way.

Band Student Drop-Off and Parking

With a band our size it is critical that we ALL follow drop-off and parking rules all year long. When dropping off your student, please DO NOT proceed down the dead end road toward the band hall. This is reserved for loading equipment, faculty and staff only. Please drop off your student in the Administration parking lot, or along the road in front of the Marching Band Blacktop.

For more detailed information, please review this video:

https://youtu.be/2ETlEcUhYOg

Please note that parking is limited at RRHS. Students should always park in the assigned student parking lots and not park in the administration building parking lot (this includes during summer band). Parents, you may park in the Administration parking lot when waiting to pick up your student. Please NEVER stop or park in fire lanes or loading zones. These areas are clearly marked with yellow or red paint. This includes the curbs along the roads leading to the administration parking lot, band hall and marching black top. This is NOT a place to park or wait for your student. Your student should walk to meet you in the admin parking lot.

Following these simple rules will keep traffic flowing all year long. Thank you for your cooperation.

Summer Band Tip

Friendly tip to keep the water jug full of cold, delicious water without emptying your ice out of your freezer everyday:

  1. Get a water bottle made of a heavier plastic material and no ridges (Smart water bottles work best)

      2.    Drink the water, in preparation for summer band

      3.    Cut the top off right where it starts to curve so you essentially have a “tube” with a bottom

      4.    Fill with water leaving about a ½ inch open at the top and gently place in freezer

      5.    In the morning, you’ll need to run the frozen “tube” under water to free the ice from the bottle.

Fill jug with water and it’s ready for the day.

The kids will be able to refill jugs during the day, but the ice “tube” will stay pretty frozen and keep the water cold through multiple refills!. Filled water jugs will be given to incoming band students, on the 1st day of summer band.
