Mission to Rescue Canaan Mixes
CARL is their pit stop on their long journey to a better life!
Wings of Rescue Israel is a nonprofit whose mission is to rescue the Canaan Mixes from Israel by safely flying them home to families waiting for them across the ocean. Dennis Pickersgill of Animal Resources Inc has asked CARL’s help in getting the dogs that are flown El Al into LAX cleaned up and loaded on a private jet that will take them to rescues in Southern Washington.
The first flight is Monday, July 22 and 7 dogs are scheduled. Dennis and one person will meet the plane at 7 a.m., take dogs through customs and drive them to CARL. We need 10 dog handlers and several more volunteers to disassemble and reassemble crates, clean crates, maybe bathe dogs, get food and water and keep track so that dogs get back into the crate with all the correct paperwork for that dog.
At Camarillo airport we may have to again disassemble the crates to load in the private jet which has smaller doors, reassemble and load dogs again. If we are going to have to disassemble, we need extra volunteers at the airport to handle dogs while crates are moved aboard.
We need a minimum of 15 up to 20 volunteers July 22nd from 9 am to 12:30pm ish(?). We need a minimum of 2 and possibly 6 volunteers to go to Camarillo to assist with loading there.
Wings of Rescue Israel wants to make monthly trips, this is our shakedown run, hopefully we can help again and again. According to Wings of Rescue Israeli, due to low adoption rates Canaan dogs are the most euthanized dogs in Israeli government shelters.
Volunteers, we need all the help you can give. If you can help, please email or call Terry at terrysdogs@icloud.com, or 805-701-7147. Or Connie at cgajefski@yahoo.com or 805-415-9983.

Lost Pet Prevention Month!
PetHub created Lost Pet Prevention Month in July 2014 to give pet parents focused & in-depth resources, tools and strategies for preventing a lost pet, as well as advice for getting them home quickly if they go missing.
"July is the perfect month to highlight this issue," said Lorien Clemens, PetHub's VP of Marketing & Operations. "July 5th is historically the busiest day in shelters due to pets going missing because of fear of fireworks and large celebrations on the Fourth of July. Plus summer travel is in full swing – potential lost pet situations exponentially increase during the summer months."
According to the National Council of Pet Population Study & Policy and the National Humane Society, a family pet is lost every two seconds in North America. The organizations also report that more than 10 million pets are lost each year and one out of three pets will be lost during its lifetime. However, only one in 10 pets is ever found and even less are ever returned home to their owners.
These statistics are daunting, so PetHub started a national conversation and educational campaign to increase awareness of the lost, stolen and/or missing pet epidemic. Help us spread the word by sharing these important resources with your friends, family and on social media.

Recycling Fundraiser
The CARL Kennels needs your recyclable plastic bottles and aluminum cans. Instead of throwing them in your recycling container at curb side, why not separate them in bags of aluminum cans and plastic bottles and bring them to the kennel. All money goes back to the repairs and upkeep of the kennel such as shade tarps, poop bags, etc. It’s good for the can, it’s good for the dogs.
This is an ongoing fundraiser. Contact C.A.R.L at http://info@carlvc.org If you would like to donate recyclable bottles, cans.
