Kinder Art Exploration. Ages 5-6

Come and explore multiple art mediums as we set out on our adventure of creativity and exploration! We will learn basic shapes and drawing skills to create our very own robot! We will explore watercolor and tempera painting techniques to paint and draw animals such as owls and maybe even some Dinosaurs! We will even make an air dry clay pinch pot! Age limit is strict, must be 5 by class date.  Please come dressed ready to make a mess! All supplies included.

Gelli Printing with Leaves Workshop. Ages 8-12

Gelli Printing is a mono printing process that uses a Gelatin plate and brayer, but no need for a printing press. Kids will also use acrylic paints to layer colors, textures, along with the use of leaves. This is a fun process for all creative levels, where everyone will create a unique one of a kind multiple prints. All supplies are included but please bring a smock or wear paint clothes.

Painting with Acrylic and Canvas. Ages 10-16

This fun filled painting class will be all about acrylic paints and scapes! We will be painting a landscape, a cityscape, and a seascape on canvas! We will look at art history and see the different types and styles of landscapes, cityscapes, and seascapes to help inspire us!  Techniques of acrylic painting will be explored first and then we will jump into the paintings! Please come ready dressed to make a mess! All supplies included.

Chalk it Up! Ages 12-16

This art camp will be all about chalk! We will learn how to blend chalk pastels on a small scale, and then take it to the big scale! First we will learn the basics of chalk and how to draw with the grid method in order to make their drawings life size!  We will be doing our final piece as street artists, weather permitting! This class will be messy and will involve bending down and working on the ground for the street method portion of the class. Please dress to make a mess and be ready to chalk it up! If weather permits chalking outside please bring a hat, water bottle/ gatorade, and sunscreen along with a healthy snack to keep our energy up!

The first day of the camp (July 15th) the class will be held at the Maple Grove Arts Center. July 16th-18th the camp will be held at the Lions Pavilion, Maple Grove right next to the Maple Grove Community Center, ice arena entrance.  On the Final Day, the 18th, feel free to come at the end of class (10:30) to see your students final piece and take pictures with your street artist!

Ooey, Gooey, Messy Art Camp. Ages 6-12

Its time to get super messy with this 4 day camp of crazy, messy, artsy fun. KidzArt always offers all new art projects and lots of experimenting with a variety of art tools and mediums. From paint, clay, and paper-mache your budding artist will be surprised at what their imaginations will create.

Studio Arts Academy. Ages 12-16

This class will focus on the expanding upon the fundamentals of drawing and concepts for painting on canvas and other traditional and nontraditional surfaces. Students will investigate the use of different drawing mediums such as graphite, charcoal, pencil, and acrylic paints. Please bring a sketchbook to class each day (all other supplies included).

Slime Time! Ages 6-12

Get ready for a messy good time making slime and other fun potions. We'll experiment and investigate interesting ingredients to create wild concoctions, bubbling potions and fizzy creations. We will design cool containers and bottles to house our concoctions. It's going to be a messy, fun time!!

Ocean Art. Ages 5-9

Do you enjoy the Ocean?   Have you ever thought about what it might be like to be a deep sea diver or an ocean Explorer?   Then this may be a super camp for you!  In this camp we will take a closer look at some sea life , learn a few science facts .. AND Make your very own MINIATURE OCEAN!!  You will love designing it ... and taking it home!  Where it should stay beautiful all year through.

LIGHTS! CAMERA! ACTION! Express your digital voice! (Adults)

Join us to learn the craft of digital storytelling! Workshop participants will be empowered as digital storytellers to write, craft, and edit a digital story based on a personal experience. Participants will learn how to craft key story ingredients into a memorable video posted online. First we explore storytelling concepts, then write a short personal story, craft a video script, and create a digital story through video editing. Media Artist will conduct video editing in collaboration with digital storytellers during the week after class meetings end.

How to Photograph Beautiful Floral Images (Adults)

Have you always wanted to capture beautiful photos of flowers but don’t know where to start? In this single-session class, experienced nature photographer John Maciejny will begin with a slide presentation showing techniques for and examples of capturing beautiful floral images. You can use your photos in your artwork or as standalone images. After demonstrations of how to capture the best possible images, you will have an opportunity to take photos of live flowers using a variety of lighting, backgrounds, and interesting containers. You will receive handouts of photographic terms and hints to help you continue to create beautiful work at home. All levels of photography skill are welcome. Bring your film, digital, or smartphone camera.

Paint Night: Minnehaha Falls (Adults)

Enjoy an evening out in Maple Grove while you make a beautiful painting of Minnehaha Falls! In this one-night class, artist Dan McAvey will walk you through the steps to complete a 16x20" painting of this iconic landmark using acrylic paints. No painting or drawing experience is required to have a fun night and create a work of art you can bring home! All supplies are included in the class fee.

Pour. Smile. Repeat: Dirty Pour (Adults)

Acrylic paint pouring is an exciting method for making unique, abstract art. In this class, we’ll start by learning about pouring mediums and how to mix paints to get consistent results. There will be a couple demonstrations, then you’ll get to create a unique painting of your own on a 9x12” canvas. In this session, we’ll learn a couple “dirty pour” techniques and how to make cells in your paintings. All supplies are included! Wear old clothes, it’s a messy medium. Paintings take 36 hours to dry, so you’ll need to come back to the Arts Center to pick up your painting later in the week.

There will be a couple demonstrations, then you’ll get to create a unique painting of your own on a 9x12” canvas. In this session, we’ll learn the puddle pour and straight pour techniques. All supplies are included! Wear old clothes, it’s a messy medium. Paintings take 36 hours to dry, so you’ll need to come back to the Arts Center to pick up your painting later in the week.

Mosaic Tile Art (Adults)

The class will provide a wonderful introduction to mosaics for beginners to advanced learners! Students will receive step-by-step instruction to create a piece of mosaic art on a ceramic tile surface. You will complete your piece during this single-session class and will bring grout home to put the finishing touches on your masterpiece.

Acrylic paint pouring is an exciting method for making unique, abstract art. In this class, we’ll start by learning about pouring mediums and how to mix paints to get consistent results. There will be a couple demonstrations, then you’ll get to create a unique painting of your own on a 9x12” canvas. In this session, we’ll learn the swipe technique to make incredible cells in your paintings. All supplies are included! Wear old clothes, it’s a messy medium. Paintings take 36 hours to dry, so you’ll need to come back to the Arts Center to pick up your painting later in the week.

There will be a couple demonstrations, then you’ll get to create a unique painting of your own on an 8x8” canvas. In this session, we’ll learn the tree ring pour technique. All supplies are included! Wear old clothes, it’s a messy medium. Paintings take 36 hours to dry, so you’ll need to come back to the Arts Center to pick up your painting later in the week.
