Since March 2018, we have been coordinating a Kindness Innovation Network and working in partnership with North Ayrshire Council to explore practical ways to encourage kindness in communities and organisations. Our new report, The Practice of Kindness, brings together all that we have learnt over the last 12 months; and our short film (above) explores some of the key themes and experiences of participants involved in the process.
£500,000 funding programme for libraries now open
The second phase of the Engaging Libraries programme for public libraries across the UK opened for applications last month. The programme, a unique collaboration between Wellcome, Wolfson Foundation and the Carnegie UK Trust, will support public libraries to deliver public engagement projects with research in health, society and culture, and to foster partnerships between public libraries and researchers.
Two verse books that shine light on forgotten voices and words win UK's oldest book awards for children and young people
As proud sponsors of The CILIP Carnegie and Kate Greenaway Children’s Book Awards, we were delighted to attend the awards in mid-June. The Poet X by Elizabeth Acevedo scooped the Carnegie Medal for writing, whilst The Lost Words illustrated by Jackie Morris and written by Robert Macfarlane takes the Kate Greenaway Medal for illustration.
