Partnership for Southern Equity
"Making the nonprofit world more inclusive requires courage!"
Nathaniel Smith
#JustOpportunity2019

Thank you to all who attended the inaugural Just Opportunity Summit. We had more than 300 registrants from as far as San Francisco, Denver and Pittsburgh come together to engage in a historical moment where the civic, community and nonprofit communities worked for one purpose - economic prosperity for all people in metropolitan Atlanta and the America South.

Our Chief Equity Officer Nathaniel Smith was recently featured in The Chronicle of Philanthropy article, "Leaders of Color Speak Out". Keep up the great work Nathaniel!

#CoolingAssistance
On June 28, The Just Energy Circle supported Dr. Joyce J. Dorsey and FACAA-Atlanta as they pushed to help people with their energy bills so they can stay cool this summer. Problem is the line was down the block and they only had 100 vouchers! Public funding is limited, but private community-based funding can help this community reduce their #energyburden and ensure a safe and cool summer! Support FACAA today!

"Every six years elections are held for Georgia Public Service Commissioner (PSC). I wonder, out of all the eligible voters in Georgia, how many know why the PSC exists, what state legislation the commissioners are required to uphold, and how the PSC’s decisions impact our daily lives?  Recently I had the pleasure of learning about the PSC up close and personal from one of our PSC Commissioners, (I now refer to this meeting as PSC 101). I left that meeting with a greater understanding of the PSC’s role and also with a desire to come up with win-win solutions that leads to greater energy equity. PSC 101 was enlightening. I know that looking at our energy challenges in Georgia from each other’s perspectives will help us to make more informed decisions. Armed with more knowledge, I’m looking forward to voting in our next election for our PSC."
