For the last five years, we've operated as Youth Ministry Institute Midwest (YMIM). This month, we changed our organization to Ministry Leadership Initiative. We'll continue to co-brand as YMIM, offering our highly-acclaimed Cohort Learning Program. Our primary work continues as a non-profit, supporting young people in faith development by cultivating skilled and effective leadership in local churches.

Commissioning
Five youth ministers completed a course of study with YMIM in May. Rev. Dr. Rodger Nishioka, second from the right, preached at the commissioning service on May 4 at Southminster Presbyterian Church, our longtime partner.

Sam swims
Next week, Sam will head to Montreat, North Carolina, for a church conference / camp (you might remember our organization hosted a youth ministry conference there in January). Sam and his Prairie Village swim team finished the summer season last night.

Jack runs
Jack, our 13-year-old, has a birthday this week. He also recently finished a great baseball season. This picture, taken on May 19, shows Jack running the bases after hitting an inside-the-park home run. Not pictured: the bloody knee from sliding into home plate.

MLI is on the road
I traveled throughout Kansas and Nebraska in April, May, and June to visit client partners and prospective students. This Northern Nebraska sunset caught my eye on the way home.
"Let the fields be jubilant, and everything in them; let all the trees of the forest sing for joy" (Psalm 96:12).
