As I write this message, the sun is shining and the weather is simply beautiful. Summer is here at Jeremiah’s Place and we take full advantage of the chance to go outside and let our little ones explore their world through fun and creative play. It is true that a child’s work is play and even though we are caring for children during times that may be difficult and challenging for their families, the time we have with them provides precious opportunities to spread a little sunshine and levity for them.
Children learn so much through play and exploration. My heart is full every time I hear a child’s laughter and joy. Our staff not only work to provide a safe and caring space for children, but they also recognize the importance of imagination, movement, and sheer fun.
We recently added new games and activities for the children during gym time and our messy play area is stocked with paints and craft materials for our little artists. We love to bring out our trampoline, bubbles and hula hoops as well. Thanks to a number of donors, we have increased our dress up outfits in our Imagination Station where anyone can be a fire fighter, princess, Olaf, and many more characters.
What happens at JP is quite amazing when children are encouraged to explore their creativity, work through their feelings by painting or through storytelling.
Thank you to all those who have donated our art supplies, new books and other craft materials.
And for you big kids, here’s wishing that you find time to be creative, get messy, explore your imagination and play a bit as well!
Best,
Lisa J. Perry
