As I write this message, the sun is shining and the weather is simply beautiful. Summer is here at Jeremiah’s Place and we take full advantage of the chance to go outside and let our little ones explore their world through fun and creative play. It is true that a child’s work is play and even though we are caring for children during times that may be difficult and challenging for their families, the time we have with them provides precious opportunities to spread a little sunshine and levity for them.

Children learn so much through play and exploration. My heart is full every time I hear a child’s laughter and joy. Our staff not only work to provide a safe and caring space for children, but they also recognize the importance of imagination, movement, and sheer fun.

We recently added new games and activities for the children during gym time and our messy play area is stocked with paints and craft materials for our little artists. We love to bring out our trampoline, bubbles and hula hoops as well. Thanks to a number of donors, we have increased our dress up outfits in our Imagination Station where anyone can be a fire fighter, princess, Olaf, and many more characters.

What happens at JP is quite amazing when children are encouraged to explore their creativity, work through their feelings by painting or through storytelling.

Thank you to all those who have donated our art supplies, new books and other craft materials.

And for you big kids, here’s wishing that you find time to be creative, get messy, explore your imagination and play a bit as well!

Best,
Lisa J. Perry
On June 22nd, Jeremiah's Place held it's third annual block party event. With our largest turnout to date, we welcomed 203 children and parents. We had 26 resource organizations in attendance, and the music by DJ Big Phill kept the day moving! We were happy to host our Zone 5 police officers for the afternoon. The food was delicious and families loved the many raffle prizes from which to choose! We thank our sponsors for the event: Pittsburgh Child Guidance Foundation, Echo Realty, Mead Johnson Nutrition, Engle-Hambright & Davies Inc., and Maher Duessel!
Check out Kidsburgh and all the fun summer activities they have planned!
Our staff is selling popcorn to support Jeremiah's Place in August. If you know a staff member, reach out to them to purchase some popcorn. If you would like to participate, please contact Breawna at bbradford@jeremiahsplace.org!
This July we were joined by Garrison Gunther, as he works toward his Eagle Scout rank. He brought along a group of his family and friends to build and organize our second storage unit. Garrison did a great job, and we are so thankful for his thoughtfulness and skills!
Thank you Garrison!
