Critical Conversations
On Tues., May 21, 2019, stakeholders from all of West Tennessee convened at Union University to participate in a networking summit to continue the critical conversation on adverse childhood experiences (ACEs). The important take away was to remind everyone that he or she has a role in the critical conversation of adverse childhood experiences. “We all can have a positive impact on ACEs in our community, we just need to have ‘THE Talk’” presenter Richard Kennedy, executive director, Tennessee Commission on Children and Youth, stated in his presentation. Listen Up! Free Teleaudiology Services
Tennessee Department of Health Newborn Hearing Screening Program is partnering with the University of Tennessee Health Science Center audiologists, speech pathologists, and graduate students to offer Tennessee families a unique opportunity called Listen Up! Question and Answer Sessions to provide additional support to families around their questions regarding their child’s hearing journey. These sessions do not take the place of any direct services the child already receives. See the attached flyers in English and Spanish for additional information.

Congratulations
TEIS would like to extend congratulations to LaKika King, service coordinator in the South Central TEIS office, for successful completion of her Master of Science Social Work degree with a concentration in Organizational Leadership from University of Tennessee Knoxville, as well as being named Outstanding Field Student of the Year for her online program in Middle Tennessee. LaKika was honored at the UT School of Social Work field instructor breakfast on June 14, 2019.
Congratulations also goes to Shannon Pargin, TEIS’ strategic planning coordinator, who graduated from the Tennessee Government Management Institute (TGMI) leadership program on June 26, 2019. TGMI is a two-week residential management institute that provides mid-level managers in the state with the opportunity for academic study, learning in practical management skills, and cross agency networking. TGMI graduates one class per year and is a collaborative effort between the Tennessee Department of Human Resources and the University of Tennessee Institute for Public Service.

Fiscal Services Team Updates
For EIRAs and vendors—fiscal year end processing of billing/invoices: TEIS will continue to process all billing for services prior to June 30, however, processes for payment will not occur until mid-August due to end-of-year close for fiscal year 2018-19. This will not affect July 2019 services.
EIRAs and vendors—DUNS and SAM accounts: TEIS is required to report federal funding annually based on the Federal Funding Accountability and Transparency Act (FFATA). Information required to do this reporting includes Data Universal Numbering System (DUNS) and System for Award Management (SAM) accounts. Please ensure your accounts are updated and active so the information will not be rejected when entered by TEIS. TEIS is required to file the report in August.
Contact Barbara.Bridges@tn.gov with questions.
