MPs show support for buses
Hello Supporter
I wrote to you last week about the parliamentary event that we were running with the Go-Ahead Group calling for a National Bus Strategy. Buses are our most-used form of public transport, but currently there's no Government strategy to support them into the future.
If you asked your MP to come to our event, a very warm thank you. It was great to talk with MPs from all the main parties who recognise buses' potential to combat loneliness, reduce air pollution, support the economy and help tackle climate change. To fully realise this potential we need a National Bus Strategy, backed by central Government support, giving operators and local authorities the long term reassurance they need to grow and develop services.
With the Commons Transport Committee also agreeing with us, we hope it won't be true for much longer that this vital transport mode is the only one without a strategy to support it.
Campaign for Better Transport's vision is for all communities to have access to high quality, sustainable transport that meets their needs, improves quality of life and protects the environment. We work hard to bring politicians together behind sustainable transport like we did yesterday, but as a small charity we rely on donations. Please consider giving what you can to support our work.
