The Life of a Christian

What makes the Christian life different? That question can be answered in many ways, but perhaps one of the bigger differences is the Christian's attitude toward opposition. Today God reminds us that the opposition Christians face around the world should not be surprising - as Jesus' followers, we expect to see persecution just as he did. Worship at St. John's this weekend features a sermon based on Luke 9:22-27.

Readings to prepare for worship:
Genesis 39:6b-12,16-23 - Through Joseph’s trials, the LORD blessed him and prepared him for future service.
Hebrews 11:24-26 - Through Moses’ trials, the Lord blessed him and prepared him for a reward of greater value.
Luke 9:18-24 - Through our trials, God blesses us and prepares us for eternal life in heaven.

Council Project of the Month
Teen Mission Trips
Help support St. John’s teens in their current service (through July 14) at Illumine Lutheran Church in Rock Hill, SC (science camp) and Cross of Life Lutheran Church in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada (soccer camp). Please use a green Above & Beyond envelope and label it “Council Project.” Make checks payable to St. John’s.

Rooted & Mowing
July 14, 18, and 21
Grab your garden gloves, favorite weeding tools, buckets, and hand pruners and join us from 1:00 - 2:30 p.m. on July 14 and 21 and from 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. on July 18. We will work on weeding the gardens and pruning shrubs at church and school. Please e-mail Kurt and Kelly Kramer with any questions.

Tosa Farmers Market
Saturday, July 27
Invite your family and friends to stop by St. John’s School for free lemonade and a cloth bag to use at the Tosa Farmers Market. Kids are also welcome to enjoy our playground. Click here for more information on all our upcoming outreach events.
