A great big THANK YOU

Last weekend was a bumper one for our young people for being outdoors and experiencing fun and adventure.

Three big events occurred - Wellingborough Cub Camp at Bromham, Northampton Beaver Camp at Overstone and the Lowther's Knights Activity Day at the County Centre. These events, plus loads of smaller ones, made the weekend special for literally hundreds of young people.

Over the summer months this type of activity will occur again and again in different settings and on occasions in different countries.

None of this would happen without the dedication of our adult volunteers. Whether it's putting on and staffing the events and camps, working in the background making things happen, or of course ensuring that the young people are there in the first place, safe and supervised it's all down to our brilliant volunteers.

Early Years Pilot Consultation

Are you interested in learning more about the early years provision pilot?

One of the consultation events is at the Sir John Lowther Training and Activity Centre on 16 November 2019, so you don't even have to travel far to know more.

Give your views on early years. Plans to pilot and evaluate different ways of providing Scouts to four and five year olds are currently underway, using external funds.

You can give your views at consultation events where you can hear about the pilots, ask questions, and talk to the team about how the section programme and delivery models being tested would work within your local area.

There's still space at the events taking place this month in Birmingham, Preston and Bristol. The dates for events in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland are being confirmed so sign up and we'll be in touch. Lunch is provided.

Scouts County PAW weekend

Over 100 Scouts and their Leaders are setting up camp as you read this for a spine-tingling weekend of huge adrenaline rushes, we are taking part in all of the following activities:
3G swing Multi-scramble Giant’s ladder
Crate stack Fan descender Dual zip wire
High all-abroad Tree climb Orienteering

The action-packed weekend promises to be great fun and will help Leaders and young people alike by providing:
2 nights away, elements of the Adventure, Personal, Teamwork, Team Leader, Challenge Awards,
I’m sure that there will be all sorts of social media coverage that will keep you in touch with what is going on, who has excelled and so on: the least reliable of those feeds will probably be my own Twitter account @ACC_Scouts!

DBS Checking

Please remember that it is absolutely essential that when checking identity documents that only the originals are seen.

There is absolutely no reason why anyone must ever consider a copy of the original to be satisfactory for our DBS purposes.

It's the original or nothing!

Activity Day 2019

Last weekend over 400 young people from around the county came to Sir John Lowther Center and took part in Backwards cooking, Crafts, Climbing, karting, Shooting, Slack Lining and much more.
