for July 30 & 31

Sunrise HoCo is looking for volunteers to help organize events and to join teams
We have fewer than 11 years to save ourselves. #SOS

Democratic candidates for president - 10 each night - will debate on Tuesday, July 30, and Wednesday, July 31 in Detroit. They want our votes. We want to know that they will protect our lives and act swiftly on climate breakdown. Sunrise's demands are that candidates sign the pledge to accept no fossil fuels money; support a climate debate, and make the #GND a priority on Day 1. The Democratic Party has agreed to vote whether to have a debate devoted entirely to climate at the  Democratic Party national meeting in August. Stay-tuned for updates on HoCoSunrise Facebook, IG @sunrisemvmthoco, TW @SunriseHoCo, this e-newsletter, and by texting DEBATE to 72345.

#NoPotomacPipeline

No Potomac Pipeline Rally and Hearing
Tuesday, Aug. 13, 9 a.m.
U.S. District Courthouse, Baltimore

Support the State of Maryland's fight against Columbia Gas. The No Potomac Pipeline Coalition is holding a rally and press conference outside the federal court hearing for Maryland's "motion to dismiss" Columbia Gas' eminent domain lawsuit. Columbia Gas wants to seize state land for a pipeline through Hancock in the C&O Canal area. See details at the Facebook event and the Sierra Club event. “We are vigorously defending Maryland’s right to refuse a pipeline company’s efforts to drill under state land," Attorney General Brian Frosh said. In addition, 62 state lawmakers released a letter indicating their opposition to this attempted land grab. Article here.  Email HoCoClimateAction@gmail.com to meet at 7:45 a.m. for a carpool from Columbia. No one should be building fracked-gas and oil pipelines during a #ClimateEmergency

BOYCOTT: The Potomac Pipeline would provide fracked gas for a proposed Rockwool Factory in Ransom, W. Va.  West Virginians who are part of the pipeline opposition have called for a boycott of Rockwool products
