Important Notices

Thanking Mariava and the Ministry Assistants

This Sunday at the 9 & 11am services, we will be thanking Mariava Phillips for serving St Nics in her role as Church Operations Manager this past year. This will also be her last Sunday with us, so if you haven't yet said goodbye, Sunday will be your opportunity.

This Sunday at the 6:30 service, we will be thanking our ministry assistants for all of the hard work they have put in this past year. They have truly been a blessing to all of us here, often serving in very unseen ways.

Church Office Closed

Due to unforeseen circumstances, the church office will be closed from 29th July - 12th Aug. Thank you for your understanding and patience.

New Car Park on Sundays

For the 11am service, we have a car park down near our Youth Centre in The Sands (DH1 1RS). There will be someone on duty from about 10:35am to welcome you into the car park. After our service, you can leave the car park via the exit that has a barrier (the way you entered the car park will be locked, but you can exit via the barrier at any time).

St Nics Recovery Group Sponsored Walk

Thanks to everyone for your thoughts, prayers and donations. It was a real encouragement to us all. We completed the walk reaching Holy Island on Saturday with aching feet but a strong resolve! Why don't you check out our new website to see some photos of our walk?

There will be a chance to enjoy fellowship together and to pray for our mission links next Sunday afternoon, 28th July at the home of Biddy and Mike Heywood (9 Dryburn Road, Durham). We will start at 4:30pm and finish at 6pm prompt. All welcome.

Kids Work Over the Summer

Kate Swann is looking for only 5 more volunteers each Sunday to help with kids work over the summer to give our regular volunteers a well-earned rest! Everything will be planned and prepared for you. If you're interested in helping, please email Kate. If we can't find enough volunteers, then children will be in the services with their parents!

St. Nics Daily Prayer Diary

Sunday – Pray for people who are not well enough to be with us in church and for those who are caring for them. Pray for adequate rest and sleep and for them to feel God’s loving presence and peace.

Monday – Pray for the Cruse bereavement group, Coffee Lounge charities and the Big Bin project in Stockton. Thank God for the invaluable work they do and for the privilege of being able to support them as a church.

Tuesday – Pray for all those who work in local hospitals. Give thanks for the skill and wisdom of doctors and nurses and the competence of all those working
within this caring profession. Give thanks for our NHS service.

Wednesday – Pray that as a church we will continually grow in discipleship and fellowship with one another. That we may be a community worthy of the name of the One who calls us.

Thursday – Thank God for all He is doing with us as a Church. Notice the Spirit at work in our church through morning prayer, puppet ministry, coffee lounge, night shelter, holiday clubs, new services, Alpha, etc.   Thank God for the “once in a generation” call for the opportunity to become a resource church. Thank God for the gift of one another in all our different gifting, callings and ministries

Friday – That as a church community we may discern and follow God’s will for us. That we may reflect the grace and goodness of God in our corporate life and with one another. Pray especially for God’s guidance as we seek His will for us as a Discipling Church.

Saturday – Pray for the Community of St Cuthbert and that it would the Holy Spirit would use this to deepen and renew discipleship in our Church. Pray for wisdom in how and when to introduce this to our own church. Pray for the recruitment of a Dean/Prior to lead the work. Pray for a raising up of lay leaders and church planters. Pray for those groups who will pioneer this.
