Safeguarding for Managers - Recognising, investigating, Reporting and Recording
For managers and more experienced staff...

The course runs over a full day and is led by an experienced social worker and Best Interests Assessor with over 20 years of experience in the field.  This course is perfect for managers in voluntary, private and public organisations needing a more in-depth understanding of safeguarding for adults.

 

Course content

  • Principles of safeguarding and protection
  • Recognising harm or abuse and reducing its likelihood
  • Concern reporting and investigation using the principles and legal framework of the Mental Capacity Act 2005, DoLS and Care Act 2014.
  • The importance of safety, mitigation of risk and delivering user defined outcomes in safeguarding.
  • Making safeguarding investigations person-centred and enabling participation of the people at risk and advocates.
  • Taking an initial record from a person disclosing concerns, abuse or neglect.
  • How to gather evidence and understand its relevance to legal and disciplinary processes.
  • The role of safeguarding leads and the Safeguarding Adults Board.
  • How to make suggestions with regard to Safeguarding based on evidence
  • The importance and means of preserving forensic evidence
  • The role of recording, case chronologies and report writing safeguarding.
