CBBG industry partner, the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), will be visiting ASU on July 23rd. There will be a lunchtime talk given by EPA Representatives followed by presentations from CBBG Senior Investigators in the Environmental Protection and Restoration Thrust led by Prof. Rosy Krajmalnik-Brown. The lunchtime presentations are open to all CBBG students, staff and faculty. We will also webcast this event to our partner institutions.

Civil Engineer Job Opportunity for the Central Federal Lands Highway Division
The Central Federal Lands Highway Division (CFLHD) of the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) is excited to announce the advertisement of one Senior Civil Engineer – Geotechnical (GS-0810-13) and one Junior Civil Engineer – Geotechnical (GS-0810-11/12) position in Lakewood, Colorado. 
 
CFLHD is responsible for the design and construction of transportation infrastructure projects that provide access within and into federal lands in the central United States. Our federal, state, and local partners rely on CFLHD to solve and manage unique program and project challenges that are wide-ranging in environment, geography, and complexity, through engineering solutions that are sensitive to the context of the beautiful places we work.
 
As a member of the Geotech Team, you will serve as a subject-matter specialist with expertise in the fields of soil and rock mechanics, field investigations, foundation engineering, earth retaining structure design, and slope stability analysis for the design and construction of geotechnical facilities for roads and bridges. These positions are ideal for geotechnical engineers with diverse experience in all aspects of geotechnical engineering.
 
The office is located in Lakewood, Colorado (just west of Denver) in the beautiful foothills, minutes away to Red Rocks Amphitheatre, local ski resorts, mountain biking, and a variety of other outdoor activities.

LIDAR Demonstration/Training

CBBG has recently purchased a LEICA P50 LIDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) portable 3-D Terrestrial Laser scanning system. The system offers an accuracy of 1.2 mm over a range of 270 m and 3 mm at distances of up to 1 km. 
 
A Leica technical representative will provide training on the system at the CBBG Field Site on the Polytechnic Campus.  As the date approaches, we will send out another email asking you to let us know if you plan to attend the training.
