SET FIRE: Songwriters Jess Collins and Jim Healey had worked together on other projects and recognized that their partnership came with a level of ease that led them to form a band of their own. After playing as a dual vocals/guitar/keyboard team for a time, they added a drummer to the lineup. Their 2019 EP, Prisms, showcases their melodic range and driving heavy rock sound (extra points for the poignant Soundgarden cover). Power-packed, foot-stomping, head-banging rock shows and a no frills approach led to the band's 2019 Rock & Roll Rumble victory. Listen to Set Fire
OLD JACK: No band has a story like the Old Jack Rumble story. They remain the only band in its history to be eliminated in the preliminary week and re-enter The Rumble for Semifinals and wildcard into Finals. About that experience, band leader Dan Nicklin says, "There is no rite of passage or handed down tradition that doesn't sting a little while helping you grow." The band has since been nominated multiple years for, and won in 2016, a Boston Music Award for Live Ongoing Residency of the Year for their Last Saturdays monthly residency at The Lizard Lounge. With new faces since those past Rumble days, Old Jack still very much embrace their signature Old Soul Rock & Roll sound. Listen to Old Jack
