Ready or Not

By Katie Henderson, Washington Conference communication intern

There are many times in life where transition comes whether you feel ready for it or not.

Two years ago, I found myself at what felt like a dead end wondering what was going to happen next in my life. I had recently graduated university, was looking for a job that would both support and mentor me in a wholesome environment, and I was feeling lost and hopeless.

I had just left an unhealthy work environment and was rescuing my family from car trouble in Berrien Springs, Mich., when I happened on a Facebook post from the Southern Adventist University Journalism & Communication department. It was a two-year North American Division communication internship with Washington Conference.

That was the moment when God opened the door.

FROM SUNSET LAKE CAMP

Save A Piece of History

Built around 1920, Timber Lodge is the oldest building at Sunset Lake Camp. Age and weather have taken their toll on the structure. A major permitted, engineered, and contracted remodel project is underway to save the building. Improvements include a new five-point truss system using carefully selected trees harvested and milled on camp, improved lighting, new heating, and plans for a wood-burning fireplace and a remodeled kitchen.

These phased building improvements to Timber Lodge will give groups the option to cook and prepare their own meals and use the building for worship and activities.

Thanks to several generous donations, 75% of the funds have been raised. Your Washington Youth offering throughout July can help us save a piece of history!

To support this special project, please mark your tithe and offering envelope for "Washington Youth" to specifically designate your generous offering to this project.

Thank you for helping us save a piece of Sunset Lake Camp history!
