The Semi-Finals Are Here...
And Here Are Your Semi-Finalists.

You’ve watched. You’ve waited. You’ve created. And now it begins to pay-off. From the moment the first Equal Space™ Challenge was launched, we knew great things were coming—new ideas for new Sports In Space™. After a global crowd vote, the selections were announced as the “Sweet Sixteen” ideas to move forward to the Semi-Finals. Today we reveal YOUR Semi-Finalists, that will go on to compete for the ultimate title of first sport to be played in space.

 MEET THE SEMI-FINALISTS

“Inno” by Elizabeth Huber of Los Angeles, CA
The Game That Bounces Back
Objective: Utilize trampolines and Velcro®-padded walls to throw or bounce a ball through the opposing team’s goal.
"Spaceball" by Etan Grant of Los Angeles, CA
Athletic, Energetic, And Totally Magnetic
Objective: Get a magnetic ball through a hoop of the same polarity, while the opposition attempts to do the same.
“Shooting Star” by Giulia and Gianluca Bassani of Collegno, Italy
The Space Wizards’ Sport Of Choice
Objective: Guide a ball through one of three heavily-guarded goals, while looking out for a remote-controlled drone.
“Space Dodgeball” by Julisha-Jean-Jacques of Palm Bay, FL
Made To Be Played
Objective: Dodge incoming balls from an opposing team by throwing obstacles in their way.
“Zero Gordian” by Michael Ricciardi of Seattle, WA
The Knottiest Game In Space
Objective: Race the clock to tie an increasingly-complicated series of knots while tethered to a teammate.

What's Next?


The Space Games Selection Council (SGSC), made up of a diverse group of esteemed experts in astrophysics, space science, athletics, sports broadcasting, pro-sports, special effects for TV shows and movies (from “Stranger Things” to “Star Trek” and beyond), education, gymnastics and others, will take a deep dive into all the sports, and select the games that will be the first to fly in 2020.
Like we’ve told you all along: these are the games that are More Challenging Than Anything On Earth™!
