REMINDER:  Not everything in the paper bulletin is in this e-bulletin. Please pickup a paper bulletin at Mass so you don't miss information.
My dear Parish Family,

One way to continue our welcome of Bishop Oscar Cantú is to sign up for the Vocations Cross that we pass from family to family in our parish every weekend to take home and pray as a family. The sign up sheets for every weekend Mass are in the vestibule. I have been deeply touched by the testimonies that families have given after their week of prayer. No two testimonies have been alike, which reminds us that we are all unique and that God speaks to us in personal ways that enrich our entire parish community.

Please note carefully the ways in which we can avoid and counteract scammers. I will never ask for anything material of you by e-mail, so if you see an e-mail from me asking for help or some material gifts, please delete the message or call me to verify. We have to help each other in these cyber and digital times and I am truly sorry for those who have been scammed recently in our parish.

I was happy to note your generosity in the second Building Collection at the end of June, funds which will go to our Church Renovation Project. Please make a pledge to the Renovation Fund of our parish church or make a donation in the blue envelopes that you will find in the vestibule or bring your contribution to the Parish Office and let the Office know that your offering is for the purpose of Church Renovation only.

In July our finance committee has met twice to discuss the budget for next year. Because of the shortfall in Sunday Collections (about $60,000 from October, 2018 to June, 2019), we are down about 14.5%. If you would consider adding 10 to 15 % to your weekly or monthly parish offerings in this fiscal year (July, 2019 to June 2020), our operating finances will be greatly helped. Thank you for your generosity and consideration of this important matter.

I hope your summer is relaxing and enjoyable.

Father George Aranha
Pastor

FROM THE DIOCESE OF SAN JOSE

Dear Diocesan Community,
Please be aware, there has been another influx in email phishing scams occurring in the diocese and county, in general.  These scams may involve an email (fake) from your priest or pastor usually asking for money, usually in the form of an iTunes gift card.  While these emails may appear like it is coming from your pastor or priest, please be assured, it is not.  If you take a closer look at the email, it’s likely coming from a “gmail” or similar account, not from @dsj.org.

Please understand our Clergy staff would never engage in a request of this type.  If you happen to see an email like this, please delete it immediately.

On occasion, we will provide information about donating to ADA appeal, Priest Retirement, or similar.  We would never request donations via iTunes gift card or any gift card for that matter.

If you feel you have been a victim to this recent scam, please notify the authorities and apprise us of scam.

Creating a Culture of Vocations
Don’t forget to sign up for your family to participate!

As we continue to create a culture of vocation in our parish we are asking for one family from every Mass to sign up to pray the vocation prayer daily promoting a culture of vocations for an entire week.  Then that family will bring it back to Mass so that Father can present it to the next family.  There is a signup sheet in the vestibule to pick a date and Mass time for your family.

The prayer is on the front page of our bulletins or you can pick up prayer cards in the vestibule basket under the signup sheet.
Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA)
"I have called You by Name, You are Mine"
... an invitation to join the journey.

WHAT IS RCIA?

RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) is the way by which people become full members of the Roman Catholic Church. Full membership requires a total formation  which culminates in the sacraments of initiation: Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist. RCIA   is a faith journey in which a person is introduced to the community, beliefs, liturgy, and apostolic work of the Catholic Church.

Please join us our next RCIA Inquiry Session on Tuesday, July 23rd at 7:30 p.m. in the Parish Office on the back of the property across from Mary's Garden).

For more information about our RCIA process, please contact Lynda DeManti at 408-839-3163 or email Lynda@santateresachurch.com

can take small steps to work harder to care for
the resources of our earth.

By the end of the year each us could take 52
small steps for the
“Care of Our Common Home”.

Use Gray Water

Gray water is water that has been used but is not necessarily contaminated.  You can use dish washing water, hand washing water, and cooking water to water plants. There are even systems you can install now that allow you to make use of gray water more effectively.
