What a joy to know we are rooted together in our God of abundance! At our 2019 Synod Assembly we formally announced Strong Roots for Wide Branches - our synod's pathway to create a culture of abundance that trusts God for more than enough provision to move forward together as we make disciples in Jesus' name.
You responded abundantly, with more than $25,000 in generosity in addition to more than $1.1 million in current, planned and pledged gifts committed in the months leading up to Synod Assembly. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
Like a tree planted by water yields fruit with unwithering leaves, we are rooted together in God to walk with congregations at every stage, support vital ministries of our synod and seed new congregations and ministries.
The steps on our pathway to a culture of abundance include:
- telling our story of vitality,
- enriching congregational gifts,
- cultivating individual donors, and
- resourcing our building blocks - the systems and people who work together to fuel our mission.
Strong Roots for Wide Branches will strengthen our synod's capacity to:
- sustain our vision and mission,
- support our 166+ congregations and ministries,
- serve our 310 rostered ministers and our 57,000 members,
- reach 2.5 million people in our region who have no church connection, and
- contribute to our churchwide witness through the ELCA and our companion synods around the nation and around the world.
Together, we are trusting God to provide our synod with individual gifts totaling $500,000 each year over and above the generous support you are currently providing through congregational mission support. This additional funding will augment our Faith Spending Plan and continue to fund our Vision Teams and current and emerging ministries of our synod. We are encouraged by the generous response we've received so far and are confident that following our Strong Roots for Wide Branches pathway will help us create a culture of abundance that meets and exceeds this goal
