Karsten Födinger - PILIER ERRATIQUE
OPENING WEEKEND
We are pleased to invite you to the Opening Weekend of PILIER ERRATIQUE - the new sculptural work by 2019 residency artist Karsten Födinger.
The artist was invited to live for one month in Verbier, Switzerland to become immersed in the local glacial environment to develop new work responding to current debates around climate and the effects of the present-day period of amplified global warming.
PILIER ERRATIQUE is a site-specific sculpture that echoes the contemporary environment of both the natural and unnatural systems in the surrounding area, while offering the notion of balance and the possibilities of the synthesization of man and nature in architecture.

The Verbier 3-D Foundation is proud to be a cultural partner of next year's Verbier Art Summit.
Join Anneliek Sijbrandij, Verbier Art Summit Founder, as she interviews Jessica Morgan, Nathalie de Gunzburg Director of New York’s Dia Art Foundation, on her curatorial direction for the 2020 Summit - Resource Hungry: Our Cultured Landscape and its Ecological Impact.
The Verbier Art Summit is an international event where art meets innovation. Renowned artists and thinkers share their ideas on a different theme each winter through inspiring talks and cultural events in Verbier.

9.30 am - Art + Music Sculpture Park Tour
Meet at Medran - Rue de Médran 41
Discover the Verbier 3-D Sculpture Park in this guided hike led by Karsten Födinger. The easy level hike is punctuated by short performances by Verbier Festival Academy musicians and spectacular views of the Combins.
Hike led in English and French.
In partnership with the Verbier Festival and Verbier Art Summit.

5 pm - Vernissage : Karsten Födinger - PILIER ERRATIQUE
Meet at the Verbier Communal Bread Oven - Chemin de Crête 20
Discussion around the history of the area, bread making and Födinger's immersion in the area.
Drinks and food served.
Park at the stone church in Verbier Village (or take bus to Verbier Fromagerie) and follow the signs.
SUNDAY 28TH JULY
10.30 am - Art + Environment Hike
Meet at Croix de Coeur
An art + environmental hike with Karsten Födinger, 3-D Curator Alexa Jeanne Kusber and environmental practitioners who worked with the artist whilst developing his new sculpture. The guided tour is through the accompanying outdoor exhibition that showcases the artist's influences from Croix de Coeur to Ruinettes.
Bring a packed lunch and dress comfortably.
