GEELONG REGION CROSS COUNTRY

The Rundown - Round 6 at Albert Park

The Rundown
So, Albert Park. I'm going to make this personal for a minute. If you are not running at this round it's probably the worst. It's cold, it's grey, it's early, it's windy. And sitting in the stands for it, hand hugging a thermos, leaves a lot to be desired. Never mind - it's done for another year and I will be back out on the roads for it in season 2020!

There were excellent races to witness last Sunday. Several PBs and runners who had their first outing over the distance. Well done to all the athletes how achieved their goals. If you haven't checked out the official results, you can find them here.

As always I want to give focus to the team results from Sunday. Unfortunately we didn't have the numbers to fill an Open Women's team but some other divisions had great results:

U16 Men - Fourth
U18 Women - Second
U20 Women - First
Premier Men - Fifth
40-49 Men - First

As has been the experience of previous rounds, it is our U20 Women and 40+ Men that have really starred on the day. Let's hope this continues for the remaining four rounds. And that even more Geelong teams join them on the podium.

Round 7 takes us to Lake Wendouree, Ballarat (Saturday 27 July). Extending upon the distance at Albert Park, open runners complete 15km and juniors 6km. I've said it before and I'll say it again, please do get yourself to the startline to enable great representation across all age groups - it doesn't need to be a PB run, we just need numbers on the start line. Juniors race at 1:30pm and open at 2:30pm. Entries close noon Wednesday 24 July - make sure you are signed up on time in order to have your run count for the club.

For all the information you need about Round 7 check out the Aths Vic event page.
