Summers in Oregon are warm, sunny, and full of the outdoor fun that comes from living in the sweet spot right between the mountains and the coast, but when you need a little indoor fun (in addition to your projects for the Summer Stitch-O-Rama), how about learning something new to put your yarn to good use? This July and August, we have two excellent guest instructors visiting to teach at Cozy, and spots still available in these special summer workshops!
On Saturday, July 20, the talented Lee Meredith of
Leethal Knits is coming from Portland to teach a class on
designing your own Triyang shawl. The uniquely-constructed Triyang starts and ends with only two stitches, with yards of creativity in between! Lee will help you learn the basic Triyang construction, including German short rows, and show you how to modify the pattern to include stripes, cables, and even lace. Students will create a mini bandana-shawl version of the Triyang and come away with the skills to design others in any size, in any yarns!
One of our favorite returning guest instructors is Shelby Allaho, of
eWoodStory and
Stitch Story Crochet. Although she lives and creates in Kuwait most of the time, Shelby visits Eugene every summer, and has taught her fantastic art weaving workshops at Cozy every year we've been open! This year, Shelby is bringing back
Art Weaving 101 and
Art Weaving 102, on July 27 and August 10. In Art Weaving, you'll learn to create beautifully colored and textured wall hangings using a handmade lap loom and an array of different yarns. On July 28, we'll have a workshop just for kids,
Kids' Beginning Weaving, in which students get to make their own tiny-tapestry bookmarks on a specially-designed loom. And finally, for crocheters and jewelry lovers, on Friday, August 9, you can learn to make Shelby's
Venezia Necklace, a lightweight, modern crochet necklace that's wearable in any season.
