Here’s what’s happening in DC.

We hear over 500 people signed up for a goat yoga class in Navy Yard last week, only to get an email saying it was canceled. It would have been a world-record-breaking event, but the heat just became too much for the little goats. To avoid future FOMO, you can bend and flow with the kids during the rescheduled event on September 7. And, in the meantime, we’ve got the lowdown on what’s going on in the DC health and fitness scene this week.

💻 WORK(OUT)

For all the remote workers out there who get antsy sitting at a coffee shop all day, there’s a new local co-working concept to get excited about. WorkStrive is the WeWork for workout enthusiasts, where a network of fitness studios share their lounge, workspace, and a class all for $36/day. If you love boutique classes, you know this day pass is a bargain. Plus, it’s easy to get social and make new friends with this setup, too — just ask what class everyone is planning to take!

🎾 GAME, SET, MATCH

José Andrés is at it again with a game-winning partnership. You’ll soon be able to find his veggie-heavy restaurant Beefsteak at Rock Creek Park’s tennis center, thanks to a concession stand shake-up happening just in time for the Citi Open that’s coming to DC July 27-August 4. And if one restaurant from the celebrity chef isn’t enough, you’ll be happy to know at least two more are joining: fresh-faced Mexican spot Butterfly and Spanish sandwich stop Pepe.

🍌 SPREADING THE VEGAN EATS

HipCityVeg is opening its second location in Dupont Circle on July 24, and the entirely plant-based restaurant is having a party to celebrate! Stop by between 11am-1pm (the first 100 people in line get a free lunch), and fill up on free sweet potato fries that will be on deck all day. We highly suggest going for the Dupont-only eats, like the new Golden Nugget Combo and rounding things out at the DIY Banana Whip Bar — think banana nice cream with tons of delicious toppings. HCV is even offering free pedicab rides to Dupont Circle to ensure you don’t miss out on all the fun!

✨ DRINK UP + CHILL OUT

Like we need another reason to head to JRINK. Well, the juicery has tapped its sister brand Apothékary to create a line of limited-edition, CBD-infused beverages. Choose from the Lavender, with blue pea flower and lemon extract, if you’re in need of an instant relax, or the Rose, made of cold-pressed lemon and beet, with a touch of honey, if you are looking for a midday pick-me-up.

🥊 BOXING REMIX

If you’ve tried any of the boxing-inspired workouts taking over the city (we highly suggest Rumble and BASH), you’ll be excited to hear there’s a new studio where you can throw that jab-cross-hook. BoomBox Boxing promises to be where “fight club meets night club”, offering a 50-minute sweat sesh full of cardio boxing, strength training and, like its name suggests, killer playlists. It all starts July 29.

😋 HURRY, BEFORE THEY MELT

Just in time for the coming week’s expected heatwave, we’re happily welcoming the return of Baked & Wired’s famous gluten-free ice cream sandwich: Fo Reel. We’re talking homemade, salty caramel ice cream with a dulce de leche swirl between two freshly-baked cookies. Not in Georgetown? You can still snag one at their sister shop, A Baked Joint, in Mount Vernon Triangle.
